Since its recent opening a couple of months ago, Gisborne Collective has been on my list of places to visit. So I went along on a Saturday night with a group of friends to check it out. It is a very nice looking place, well designed, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is a bit more on the pricy side but is in keeping with many of the casual dining options across the Macedon Ranges, and is good value. The food I ordered was very good. As a starter I tried the Dukkah Crusted Saganaki ($16) which was very tasty. For my main meal it was a difficult choice but I ordered the Bacon, Parmesan and Sundried Tomato Risotto ($24) which was delicious. The risotto came with a dollop of lemon mascarpone adding freshness to the dish. I highly recommend it! As it was a Saturday night there was a wait on meals (over 45 minutes for mains). The staff were very nice about it, and kept us updated on how long it would be. I was kind of hoping for a cocktail menu, but there are only three available on tap. However, nothing else disappointed about this place and I was overall very satisfied. If you’re looking for a great place to go out, you should go here.

Can’t say I’ve eaten a bad meal at The Gisborne Collective since being a patron for the last 18 months. From ever reliable wood fired pizzas with fresh ingredients to the strong list of main favourites. The menu remains reasonably within standards but the specials bring quite a bit of flare for those a bit more adventurous. The twice cooked pork belly is amazing, offset with a crunchy kale-slaw and a perfectly matched dressing. Lamb ragout and fettuccine is a winner. The pan seared barramundi with a cheeky red curry spaghetti also a highlight. Beef cheek gnocchi is another special to watch for. Even the perfect location to drop in for a lovely coffee during the day. Great attentive staff, well priced drinks, and a lovely atmosphere that caters for an intimate table for 2 or a family gathering of 20 plus. Home delivery is so good as well. The meals arrive perfectly packed, hot, and well separated.

Big open venue that is a cross between pizza/pasta restaurant with a touch of pub thrown in. Very popular venue in Gisborne. Polished concrete floors, steal beams gives the place a hard edge industrial style element design. LOTS of take away pizza going out the door testament to popularity of the venue as a pizza joint. Wait staff are attentive friendly and fast. Prices are respectable with most mains from high $20's to mid $30's. Food delived in appropriate time. My calamari middle of the road one dimensional but the pork belly salad was exceptionally tasty. The bad boy thick chips are worth a try and neighbouring tables ordered the chicken burger which was huge.!!!Avoid sitting in proxcimity to main entrance as get cold blast from outside every time front door opened but not a big issue. Recommend a visit

Gisborne Collective is simply amazing

I have now had my 30th, my wedding and my sons baptism here and I can’t thank them enough for such an amazing experience every time

Even when I have gone for a mid week or Saturday night dinner they have been fantastic

The quality of the food will not disappoint, the chefs love is tasted in every dish and the pizzas are AMAZING

The staff are always attentive even when it gets extremely busy they are always trying their best to keep up and ensure everyone is happy

I have been in and out of hospitality and customer service industry for more than 20 years and I know what places do to cut corners and save but Gisborne Collective is not one of them

You pay for quality and that’s what they give you

Looking forward to making many more memories with my loved ones at this establishment

P.S. the calamari special that is on at the moment has to be one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted and everyone I’ve spoken to who has tried it agrees so please add it to...

Just to be clear, I review venues from a coeliac point of view. So here goes, for a work do, I was invited/required at The Gisborne Collective. It would be great if gluten free options were similar in number to the gluten options, as the gf ones are minimal. Note to the management, A gluten free pizza base is actually useless, the toppings are not gluten free. and even if you could make the pizzas gluten free, the oven has gluten flour /contaminants so No one who is coeliac can eat here. No one eats baked cauliflower, and Greek salad is not a meal. And Risotto although looks good is boring. There is no mention if the steaks are cooked by themselves in their own pan, so maybe not. The service although friendly, was slow. If all of these things were worked on, I'm sure this would be a great place for everyone to enjoy, but for me, nothing good and therefore I rate it just two stars for now. Maybe the chef could have a look at better, more...
