Since its recent opening a couple of months ago, Gisborne Collective has been on my list of places to visit. So I went along on a Saturday night with a group of friends to check it out.
It is a very nice looking place, well designed, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.
The menu is a bit more on the pricy side but is in keeping with many of the casual dining options across the Macedon Ranges, and is good value.
The food I ordered was very good. As a starter I tried the Dukkah Crusted Saganaki ($16) which was very tasty. For my main meal it was a difficult choice but I ordered the Bacon, Parmesan and Sundried Tomato Risotto ($24) which was delicious. The risotto came with a dollop of lemon mascarpone adding freshness to the dish. I highly recommend it!
As it was a Saturday night there was a wait on meals (over 45 minutes for mains). The staff were very nice about it, and kept us updated on how long it would be.
I was kind of hoping for a cocktail menu, but there are only three available on tap. However, nothing else disappointed about this place and I was overall very satisfied.

I have been in and out of hospitality and customer service industry for more than 20 years and I know what places do to cut corners and save but Gisborne Collective is not one of them
You pay for quality and that’s what they give you
Looking forward to making many more memories with my loved ones at this establishment
P.S. the calamari special that is on at the moment has to be one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted and everyone I’ve spoken to who has tried it agrees so please add it to...
Read moreJust to be clear, I review venues from a coeliac point of view. So here goes, for a work do, I was invited/required at The Gisborne Collective. It would be great if gluten free options were similar in number to the gluten options, as the gf ones are minimal. Note to the management, A gluten free pizza base is actually useless, the toppings are not gluten free. and even if you could make the pizzas gluten free, the oven has gluten flour /contaminants so No one who is coeliac can eat here. No one eats baked cauliflower, and Greek salad is not a meal. And Risotto although looks good is boring. There is no mention if the steaks are cooked by themselves in their own pan, so maybe not. The service although friendly, was slow. If all of these things were worked on, I'm sure this would be a great place for everyone to enjoy, but for me, nothing good and therefore I rate it just two stars for now. Maybe the chef could have a look at better, more...
