Boardwalk Tavern — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

This review is for the magnificent day we had watching the NFL Superbowl. From start to finish the day was excellent. Breaky was hot and tasty. Beer was cold. Atmosphere fun and seating not squashy. Staff and management excellent too. I can thoroughly recommend this venue for sports events.

We went there for dinner last week (Sat Night early sitting).

The ambience and restaurant layout was great. The food all 4 of us received were worth 5 stars, in quality, quantity and flavour. the bill for the 4 of us was well under what you would expect for the excellent food we received.

We went for Fathers Day lunch. Starting with arrival, easy, welcoming, all services explained, and first drinks took only a few minutes to arrive. Food ordered easily across 3 separate bills on the table and was a seamless process. Entrees and mains arrived in a timely manner, all were hot, and plentiful. We can attest that the pizza, fish, oysters, prawns, calamari, and Prawn & Crab Linguini were all excellent. ^ people, not one issue with any meal. This place seemed good until we stepped out of the car. an old woman driving a rented golf buggy was driving recklessly around the parking lot swerving like she's having her final stroke. We thankfully didn't get hit by the drag racer so we went in. Service was quick so can't be picky about that. My mate ordered the table for a birthday dinner and we saw birthday things like under inflated ballons like my balls. We were picking what to order and some guy with shorts shorter than mawilly and it asked if we needed help like it was rocket science. They delivered my wings before my mates even got their food so I just started on the bland celery. I wish it was just asparagus. My mates food arrived long after same with our chips with some some crazy amount of salt that would send every old person to the E.R. my mate ordered a pizza. He didn't get the pizza. Well he got olive oil with a side of thin chewy bread. Just go to the Indian restaurant already because my wings weren't flying. They were swimming in hot sauce. You can't expect them to fly aswell because they were smaller then mawilly. My mates dough were coloured like my rear end that has never seen sunlight. Not to mention my other mates burger had a meat patty that tasted like my cats food that you can see the ting in the image below. It was thick like the fat cats feces. The place smelled like bad fish which is understandable as the water looked like my mate that ate the oil and pizza took a dump...

We have eaten here several times and it has always been great, but not this time. Checked Sauv Blanc menu and it now says see staff. Went to the bar and asked which ones do they have. Choose Craggy Estate as I know it's around $30. Got to the register and $85 What? The barman was surprised at the price too and stated "I haven't sold one of those before". Maybe others know better. I can understand a mark up, but nearly 200% was hard to swallow. Ordered meals which came out promptly. I had the calamari which was great, but the salad was soaked in an average dressing making it mushy. They have recently changed the menu and there is only one vegetarian option my wife could choose, the Thai Salad. It was well presented, but had big chunks of mint in it and the dressing was awful. She tried to eat it, but only got quarter of the way through and couldn't continue even though she was hungry. I let the waitress know and she said they have been having trouble getting chefs. Only gave a 2 star because of the calamari, otherwise would have been lower. Very disappointing lunch. We won't be going back and will instead try one of the waterside restaurants...
