The Best Falafels on the Gold Coast

Stopped by Fala Fels Cafe today in Mermaid Waters, and it was truly a fantastic experience from start to finish! We’d heard great things about the food here, and it did not disappoint.

I ordered the Falafel Pocket, which was packed with fresh, tender green falafel, creamy hummus, crisp salads, and tangy pickles, all topped with a rich tahini dressing. The flavours were vibrant and so well-balanced—definitely a treat!

My wife went for the Falafel Plate, which came with perfectly crispy falafel, aromatic turmeric rice, fresh salads, and warm bread on the side. Both dishes were incredibly fresh, flavourful, and filling.

We also tried the Zaatar Pita Chips with Hummus as a side, and it’s safe to say we’re hooked! The pita chips were perfectly crispy, seasoned with just the right amount of zaatar, and paired wonderfully with the creamy hummus.

The mocha coffee, made with Merlo beans, was also a hit—smooth and rich, it paired perfectly with our meal.

The staff were so warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Even during a busy hour, our food arrived quickly and with a smile. The portion sizes are generous, and we definitely felt we got fantastic value for our money.

The cafe is located between a car wash and a petroleum outlet. Parking is easy and located right out the front.

Keep your eyes peeled for daily specials. There is a display case with the days baguettes. All looked incredibly yummy. To the right another case has different cookies, slices and just yummy treats. Do yourself a favour and check these out.

We tried the chicken parmi baguette with chips as a meal, a white chocolate cookie, pistachio almond triangle with coffee. The parmi arrived on a bed of crispy lightly seasoned chips. The baguette bread tasted like it was just out of the oven.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The coffee here is hands down the best I've ever had in the Gold Coast. It's incredibly smooth, rich, and creamy, making every sip a delightful experience. What truly sets this place apart is their impeccable attention to detail - they consistently nail my order, ensuring it's exactly how I like it every single time.
