Our family of 5 recently moved here from Brisbane and were excited to find an organic market. We were excited to find this market a couple of weeks ago and were planning on shopping here regularly. After purchasing quite a few different vegetables and fruit products which the kids werre over the moon about from the big shed and also buying fresh mineral water we decided to buy our leafy greens from Summit Organics. Some of the vegetables including Kale especially were of poor quality and had a lot of worms and nests in it and many leaves half eaten. When I politely asked the woman there who owned the store if she had any without so many worms and things she just looked at us in the most rude way and say "Nope". My husband said to her. We would like to buy regularly from here but just need to know if it's always like this or would the veges be better next time and she was like ... "Nope". Wow... we were so taken aback that my husband just said to me I will not waste one cent of my money driving for 45 minutes to get her every Sunday to be treated like that ever again! She takes all cash and probably pays next to no tax and still has the audacity to treat people like that. I am assuming runs the entire market or she wouldn't have such an "entitled" attitude or at least she certainly "acts like she owns the place". Really sad because the whole vibe of the place was pretty nice except this person completely ruins the whole experience. My daughter asked me, "why was she so mean, we weren't mean to her?" and what could I say.. except "some people are just nasty and rude".We definitely won't be going back as we were buy a lot of organic greens and no point making the trip now. We will be telling ALL of our friends and family to...
Read moreMy favourite stall is the Uplands Farm stall. The honey is out of this world delicious. It’s biodynamic not just organic. When in season their blueberry are awesome too. They sell bees wax candles, root vegetables and a selection of other seasonal vegetables and fruits. The farmers are a beautiful couple who are outstanding Aussie farmers. They are friendly and are a wealth of wisdom.
There are also plenty of other great stalls where you can get fresh eggs, fragrant herbs, vegetables, fruit, sourdough bread, coffee, and spring water.
Parking is always a breeze. It’s a great way to start a Sunday morning and get food for...
Read moreI witnessed a very disturbing act of animal cruelty at the Miami organic market this morning. The owner of the largest stall at the market (who I believe is also the market organiser), threw something at a magpie twice. I'm not sure what he threw but it hit the magpie on the second go and the bird stumbled away. He could have waved it away but instead he chose to throw something at it - in front of shoppers, many of whom are vegans. I hate to think what he's capable of and how many birds he's injured when no-one...
