Disappointed is really the only word I can use to describe my first, and most likely last, experience of Goodies Cafe.
As friendly as the staff were, I had to get their attention to get service, something you'd expect a server to take the initiative to do themselves, but once I had their attention, they were helpful enough finding out about ingredients and allergens in the food.
The part that made this a really disappointing experience was the food. For context we ordered the fish and chips, the loaded avo toast with a side of poached eggs, bacon and mushrooms, and two smoothies. The descriptions on the menu sounded so appealing, so you can imagine our surprise when the crumbed fish looked like it had been bought from the frozen food section of Aldi, the loaded avocado toast was served on one slice of sourdough that again looked like it had been purchased from a local supermarket, and the side of "eggs" was actually side of "egg". My wife's bacon and mushrooms were drenched in oil and formed a little pool on her plate - not the most appetising presentation for a $75 outing.
Now if these had been $15 meals, I probably wouldn't be writing this review, but at $25 a piece, the quality was sorely lacking for this price bracket. Now I've had tastier, larger and better quality servings for less money from the Coffee Club so I don't buy the excuse that inflated food prices is the problem.
My wife has also asked me to mention the "creepy serving robot". A fun novelty to some, we personally found it annoying and uncomfortable.
I think that if Goodies wants to see out the year, it may need to listen to the feedback of its customers, start sourcing food from higher quality suppliers, drop the gimmicks like the robo waiter, and put some time into training its staff in food presentation and service.
I hope for the sake of the lovely and well-meaning staff at this cafe that the owners listen to their customers and make the changes that everyone...

Starting with ordering, we walk up to the counter after deciding what to get out of the window. The cashier is staring at us rudely, so we persist and try to engage in a friendly greeting which doesnât seem to work. Order a grilled ham croissant and a blueberry tart, at this point the server mutters something to which we have to ask her to repeat, she says the kitchen is closed they donât serve any hot food now. So with this, we order a scone instead of the croissant. Transaction was made, then shortly after we were handed a paper takeaway box with the tart and 1 scone placed inside. Confused I asked why are we being given the two orders in the one box & why paper? She grabs another box and then we have to ask for utensils and straws. After this we sit down to eat only to find that the scone is too dry, only one itty bitty serving of jam was included and zero cream. So all in all it was a very boring and disappointing lunch for our mother...
Read moreWhilst my car was being repaired I came here to have something to eat. Due to being heavily pregnant and a few weeks until birth, there was no other place nearby to wait that had aircon. However after reading the menu there were no options available for my dietary requirements. But I thought they wouldnât mind me waiting there for 30 minutes or so, even if I just purchased a soft drink or something, because it wasnât busy there at all, and I wasnât taking up room.. then the manager came over to me and asked me to leave if I wasnât buying anything, even after I explained that I was pregnant and wouldnât be there long.. but I still had to leave, even though being in the 30 degree heat whilst heavily pregnant isnât safe.. just wasnât a very welcoming place, and hardly any options for those who are gluten free and also if youâre vegan or vegetarian thereâs pretty...
