I attended dinner with a group of friends prior to an event. We arrived at the restaurant nearly 2 hours before we were expected to arrive at the event. Thinking that this two hour timeframe would be enough to have dinner and then walk to the event.
Unfortunately, this proved to not be the case.
When arriving all went well to begin with a staff member coming over to check in and place orders within the first 10 - 20 minutes of our arrival. We all placed our orders with no issues from the staff member who double checked to make sure all orders and requests were correct and had remained lovely and understanding throughout the evening.
We received drinks and entrees after another 15-20 minutes. This was where the first few issues begun to arise.
We had only ordered one dish to come out as the entree and the rest to be received with the main meals. We had gotten multiple entree dishes early. Overall, not a huge event to worry over.
The wine ordered was of a 2020 collection, however we received a bottle from 2022 which was not at all what was ordered. We sought out staff to follow up with these issues, and were informed that there must have been some miscommunication.
Moving on from this, we continued to enjoy our time as the environment is of a good quality and in the end was the best thing about this place.
After 50 - 60 minutes, we still had not received our meals for the night, and we had to sought out staff members to follow up with the delay. We had not been given a definitive answer to the delay. With only 20 minutes left before we were required to rush out to make it to our event, we contemplated leaving early just to make it on time. Despite meals being already paid for.
However, our food arrived within the next 5-10 minutes of making this decision so with food on table, we had to inhale what ended up not being great food, before rushing out to make it to the event.
Other key moments from this experience: there was no water service offered a meal that was not ordered had been given to us meals were subpar at best, due to the fact that we had no time to really enjoy them
All in all, what started off as a nice night to dinner, turned into a horrid experience of delays, lack of communication and no enjoyment...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. The entire restaurant waiting 1 hour+ wait times (1hr15m) for our mains and the service was pitiful for a restaurant with the audacity to charge $30 for a basic pasta.
Not once in the +1 hour did we get checked up on, apologised to, offered a top up on water, asked if we'd like another drink, etc. When the food EVENTUALLY arrived, nobody meal-checked us or asked if we'd like another drink. Not even a "sorry for the delay". You could easily overhear tables next to us complaining about their delay as well, including several going up to the bar to query with staff.
Once we'd had enough, we queried whether there would be any compensation for such a ridiculously long wait time and lack of service. The colleague we asked ran away to grab another colleague, who wasn't a manager, just someone else so he didn't need to deal with it. The second waitress abruptly told us "Yeah but everyone has been waiting a long time so...." - and that was it. We then asked if even our wines would be taken off the ($100 for 2 wines and 2 pasta dishes) overpriced bill, we didn't expect the food to be comp'd, but nope, just a "nah I don't think so" while she typed the $101 into the card reader infront of us.
Absolute comical joke - my partner and I work in a highly rated hotel and we would be hung, drawn and quartered if we put on that display as poor as that and then didn't offer a courtesy or an apology at ANY point. I urge anyone who values their time and wants such an expensive meal to be accompanied by better service than you'd find at your local McDonald's to stay far, far away from this restaurant. So...
Read moreWe were recommended from some locals that live in the area and we had lunch there with some friends. We had the garlic pizza, a main of calamari that we shared. The ladies had the seafood spaghetti and the snapper while My mate and I had the rib eye steaks. We did enjoy our time there although it did take a while to get our food. What we also got was a pretty fierce dose of explosive “concerns” after the meal. Within 2-3 hours after the meal One by one, we all fell pretty hard. I am not a fading violet by any means. I was first down. In a shopping centre of all things leaving my wife at the register to “save myself”. We did call The restaurant to let them know(we did deduce as a group it had to be either the calamari or garlic pizza, as non of us had anything else before or after) and at first it was met with a decent amount of concern. Well they said the right things anyway. However the next day as nobody else had complained they dismissed us as it was nothing. Showing a flagrant disregard to their duty towards their patrons. Unable to accept that they served the food that made 4 people physically ill. Our server was a nice bloke and I am sorry that I had to write this, however the owners of the restaurant do not actually follow the correct procedure and then had the audacity to lie to us saying they called every person, (us knowing by fact they didn’t). Maybe just have second thoughts as it has been showed they are chasing the buck and happy not to be too worried about causing genuine physical problems to those that charged $400 for 4 people’s lunch. Eat here with caution, better again, show them that the Gold Coast deserves better and eat...
