Horrible customer service!!! The Japanese lady waitress took our order, repeated it back, and even clearly pointed to the pictures on the menu to confirm the two bentos we wanted. Yet she still placed the wrong order for our table.

After waiting more than 20 minutes, our meals finally arrived and they were wrong. The male waiter took them back to the kitchen, then two minutes later returned with another wrong meal, confidently saying, “Yes, you ordered this grilled fish bento!”

Clearly, the lady had placed the wrong order for both bentos, because the first time we were served karaage chicken bento and grilled fish bento, neither of which we ordered. When she finally came out to check, she said to us, “So you want to change the bento?” 🙄 Excuse me? How can she blame us like that? She was the one who made the mistake, yet acted as if we’d changed our order at the last minute.

After that ridiculous response, my partner and I decided not to eat there anymore. Only then did she admit she had placed the wrong order and said they could make the correct one now but it would take another 15 minutes. We had already waited over 20 minutes, and now, because of her mistake, we’d have to wait almost 40 minutes in total. Absolutely not. she then told us we couldn’t leave because “one of the meals is ready.” If it was ready, why didn’t they bring it out instead of standing there arguing with us for over 3 minutes? Obviously, nothing was ready. She then insisted we had to pay for a meal even though we hadn’t eaten a thing! Why should we pay for food we never received?

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Donto Sapporo Japanese Restaurant, and the overall experience was a delight. The food itself was a standout with fresh and delectable ingredients that satisfied my taste buds.

The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Japanese dishes, each prepared with care and precision. From the flavorful sashimi to the savory tempura, every dish showcased the quality of their ingredients.

However, I must admit that getting the staff's attention proved to be a bit challenging. Although the food was excellent, the service fell short as it was difficult to reach the staff when we needed assistance. Nevertheless, once they did attend to us, they were polite and helpful.

During the winter season, the restaurant's ambiance took a slight dip as some patrons didn't properly slide the entrance door shut, causing a chill to creep in. While it can be understandable with many guests coming and going, it did affect the overall dining experience.

Despite these minor setbacks, Donto Sapporo Japanese Restaurant's food was undoubtedly the highlight. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shined through, making each bite a delightful experience.

Donto Sapporo has been a staple in the area for years, and it’s easy to see why. The consistent feedback and reviews I've heard from others were spot-on. Having visited a couple of times, I can confidently say this place never disappoints.

The sushi platter, hand roll platter, and sashimi are absolutely phenomenal. The moment these dishes appear in front of you, they are truly mouth-watering. The freshness is unparalleled, and for the first time, I understood what it means for sushi to "melt in your mouth." The tuna, in particular, was incredibly tender and flavorful.

A word to the wise: make sure you make a reservation for Saturday if you're looking forward to their sushi, sashimi, or any specials, as these are only served with a reservation and it also get superbly busy. The outdoor seating is also a wonderful feature, especially for those dining with pets. It’s dog-friendly, and they even prepared an amazing bowl for my fur baby, showing just how welcoming and accommodating their service is.

During one of my visits, I dined alone with my dog. The waitress went above and beyond, helping me set up everything outdoor and even bringing the payment machine out to me so I didn’t have to leave my fur baby unattended. The service here is truly top-notch.
