After a hard night of Zombie Killing, I was ready for something to sooth my soul. Having the walking dead chasing you, can really build up an appetite and the need for some comfort.
I'm so disappointed in the fact that I didn't take a photo of my meal. Not because I thought it was bad or disgusting. But essentially, because it was out of this world.... perfect for after my virtual zombie war.
Pan seared snapper on a bed of cauliflower mash with grated zucchini and a sprinkle of black currents. Legit covered all of my 'if I'm paying for a meal, it better be worth it' criteria 1. Hot 2. Looks and smells good 3. Tastes good 4. Different textures 5. Decent portion (Doesn't have to feed a family, but sufficient enough that pudding is not required to stop me from eating my arm when I leave the restaurant). My favourite entree was the air fried broccoli. Simple yet delicious.
The whole menu wasn't extensive, but when it's that delicious, why would you need more options.
The atmosphere was pretty busy. Driving into the area was daunting as I had never been there or to that area (I should've looked it up beforehand). I walked past it without realising.
It was hustling and bustling, full to the brim. Full of what seemed like 'Love Island' contestants..... my camouflage pants and tight black T were a stark contrast to the other patrons.
We had an awesome booth, soft and roomy seats with a large enough table that we could order every entree and still have space for mains and drinks. Great music and vibe. I may be getting old but I'm not old enough to need hearing aids, but when I'm resorting to lip reading and sign language with the awkward nod pretending to hear what someone else is saying, you know the live music is too loud. Getting to and from the bathroom felt a little like a gauntlet. Passing through high bar tables and chairs with jovial individuals drinking made for an interesting game of dodge'ems.
Great meal out, I'd go back for the food 100%. Just maybe not on a Saturday night when I am left with a phone number and an R18 picture on a coaster .... P.S. Steph, if you left your number for someone in the last booth on the right, I have a feeling they won't be calling...
Read moreWe had an absolutely dreadful experience at your establishment Local Burleigh. The staff and manager were utterly incompetent and seemed clueless about their jobs. They were disorganised, and completely unresponsive to customer needs. It was clear that they had no idea how to handle even basic customer service situations.
To make matters worse, the atmosphere was chaotic due to intoxicated patrons who were loud, disruptive, and clearly should have been asked to leave. They were making scenes, bothering other customers, and overall creating a hostile environment that ruined what should have been a pleasant evening. This was also observed by other patrons within the venue.
Adding insult to injury, despite supposedly having reserved tables, there was no signage or indication whatsoever that these tables were reserved. When we approached the staff about it, it seemed as if we should know what tables were reserved!
What was most shocking was that some of these rowdy patrons were apparently "sponsored" by the venue itself, using their status as an excuse to behave poorly and treat other paying customers with disrespect. It was as if the venue condoned and even encouraged their obnoxious behaviour, even the manager said “I cannot control how patrons act” and had no intention of enacting disciplinary measures or understand our concerns. Rather, refer the situation to another domain stating, "I am very close with these people".
Overall, the short visit to Local Burleigh was a complete disaster. The combination of inept staff, intoxicated patrons running amok, and a complete lack of respect for other customers' experiences has ensured that we will never set foot in this establishment again. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy terrible service and a chaotic...
Read moreWe went there a week ago and enjoyed our night catching up with some friends, and enjoyed our time. We thought we would go back today and enjoy some food and cocktails. However, the experience was completely shocking. Once we were seated we had ordered drinks and food spending over $200, giving the bar staff our table number on multiple occasions. There was a small piece of paper saying the table was booked from 3.30pm yet we arrived after 4pm and a couple was there. We had asked the people sitting at the table if we could sit with them as the table seated 8 and there was only 2 of them, and they allowed it. The maitre d on the front counter came over immediately after receiving our food and, stating she would " Allow us to finish our food, but after you are going to have to move elsewhere" (There were no other available tables). After she had done this she then continued to talk about how we were seated at a reserved table to other patrons making our experience go from comfortable to extremely awkward and unwelcoming. By the end of the experience we had left before finishing our food and drinks as we then felt really unwelcome. It was made quite apparent that the patrons who had booked the table earlier were friends of the band playing, however did not show up for there booking until nearly an hour after the booking time.
It would of been good to have a heads up that the table was reserved and the customer had not yet arrived before taking our money for our food and drinks.
The only thing we want from this review is for you guys to improve on how you manage reserve tables and take into consideration customers who are spending money...
