Extremely unpleasant experience. I ordered an iced matcha with almond milk, but what I received was far from acceptable. Firstly, the matcha was poorly prepared—lumpy and inconsistent, making it clear that the staff lacked the proper training to make this beverage. Instead of a smooth, enjoyable drink, it felt like I was sipping milk with chunks of tea powder. More concerning, however, was the issue with the milk. After taking my first sip, I immediately noticed that the drink tasted like it had been made with regular cow’s milk, not almond milk as I had ordered. I asked the waitress to double-check, and instead of verifying the actual milk used, she checked the order docket and reassured me it was almond milk. Trusting her word, I drank the matcha, only to suffer a severe stomachache for the rest of the day due to my sensitivity to dairy. This was not only uncomfortable and distressing but entirely avoidable with a bit more care and attention to detail from your staff. I strongly urge your team to provide proper training on both the preparation of matcha and the handling of dietary requests. Cafes offering specialty drinks like matcha should understand the importance of getting it right—not only for taste but also for customer health and safety. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take steps to improve your service and staff training. What should have been a simple, enjoyable drink turned into an expensive and...
Read moreI am currently sitting in this very busy cafe, drinking an average coffee, watching large numbers of people drink from little plastic cups that the cafe will soon throw away. This cafe, simply due to laziness, gives hundreds of plastic cups away to patrons for water every day, and then just throws them away. Oh, did I mention this cafe is 500meters ish from the Burleigh beach. Plastic destroys our oceans and Australia is working hard to ban plastic products. In fact, single use plastic supply has been banned but it seems Social Brew and Burleigh dont care. Recent research highlighted plastic survives in our oceans without decomposing for more than 120 years. I did ask the waitress behind the counter to provide me a glass and not plastic. This so annoyed her. She was close to anger. What saddens me the most, is that this cafe is full of Burleigh locals. And not a single one of them seems to care. I will never come here again, but as a very appalled local, I will continue to try and raise awareness of this issue to stop places like Social from treating our planet wth complete disdain. I frequent many places in Burleigh and many do care. Let's...
Read moreThis a very vibrant, fast, fun, friendly place to eat and drink. Located in a great location on James street, the choices on offer for food and drinks is incredible. There is a display with muffins and toasties, or you can order of an extensive menu. Be hungry if you do as the serving sizes are substantial. I order a Hydration Juice which was freshly made and exceptionally good. I chose to make up my own breakfast from a selection of sides and was not disappointed. Well cooked tasty bacon, chewy bread and a huge pile of avocado. The flat white coffee was good although the large I ordered was not strong enough. The latte my friend ordered, I was advised, was good and strong. The service was fast and friendly and both times I went over a period of 3 day, the place was heaving with young and old alike, both during the week and on the weekend. You can book and I would suggest doing that on the weekend, and even though we didn’t, we did not have to wait long for a table – although it was not the best as it was right at the front and I unfortunately scored the exposed corner sea where all the food and drinks passed sometimes...
