Pattysmiths Labrador — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Popped in to check out what was the recent hype about. Have known this brand for a while but have not tried this till now. The items ordered were half rack of short ribs, 12 wings, 4 chicken thighs, frickles, pickle shake and a Big Smith burger. Short ribs were pre-cooked and fried to heat them up. The meat did not fall off of the bone had it been cooked in an oven. Flavour was tasty as beef ribs should be but needed more chewing to get it down. However, you will never find 4 short rib cuts in any other restaurant for $45 dollars. Chicken thighs flavour ordered were non spicy and inferno. The thighs were small but juicy. The inferno is not spicy if you love your chilli heat and tasted like Mala. The chicken wings on their own was tasty and really didn't need any sauce. However we got the Reaper Chilli, Hot honey and OG sauce to try. Amongst the 3 sauces, the OG was tasty with a creamy and tangy flavour. You can give the other 2 a miss as the Hot honey was bland and the Reaper Chilli has a strange taste to it. The Big Smith burger was the best item amongst all the items ordered. The burger was juicy after the first bite! OMG, the burger as beefy, moist and well cooked through. You can see its made from fresh beef mince without many binders. Found out from the owner that the patties are all hand made and minced on site. The price for this gourmet burger is value for money. The frickles were decent in flavour though the bater is a bit thick and a tad overcooked. But still a tasty treat. The dill pickle shake didn't taste much but vanilla ice cream with green colour.

Had a great time chatting with the owner Kathy and she was happy to share the process of how the food is made and cooked. Will definitely pop in to eat their tasty burgers when in the area again. Great family feast deal and a cheap feed if you have overspend at Harbour town.

Decided to order from here last night on uber eats. Worst decision i’ve ever made. Let me start off by saying I have a very strong stomach and I’ve never really felt sick from food before… Until my food from here. The burger was absolutely disgusting, and i mean DISGUSTING. I’m not a fussy eater and love fast food, however this was genuinely stomach wrenching. This place genuinely gave me food poisoning. Burger was extremely cold for starters and wet. The meat tasted like water and was so soft, like it had been cooked in a microwave. Bacon was slimy and looked practically raw. Cheese tasted so sickening. I’m not someone to complain or even ever write reviews, but I just had to for this one. Immediately after eating my stomach felt off. I woke up in the early hours of the morning vomitting this up. Such a disappointing experience. We had a table of 4 and it took 40 minutes for our burgers to come out and they were ice cold which means they had been sitting there for a long time and no one bothered to notify us. The staff seemed confused and the younger staff member clearly hadn't been trained properly to call out orders or organise herself which is not her fault. When 3 of us had finally collected our burgers my friend had to go up again and ask for her burger and they gave her the wrong bag so they had to make her another burger. It was just a mess of disorganisation, confusion and sub par food.
