I’ve been visiting this shop over the past year and have always enjoyed coming here. As a pensioner, I really like supporting local businesses, especially when they serve quality food and have a good community feel.

Lately, though, I’ve noticed a few changes. The drink selection is now quite limited, and the menu and prices have changed quite a bit. It also seems like there isn’t as much variety as there used to be, which is a bit disappointing.

During my recent visit, there was a bit of tension at the counter — a staff member in a black shirt was quite firm with a customer due to a mix-up with their order. It felt a little uncomfortable to watch, and the service overall seemed slower than usual. It may just be some new staff still finding their feet, which I completely understand, but it did affect the experience.

That said, the crumbed snapper I ordered was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised to receive an extra piece. The food is still great, and I’d really love to keep coming back and supporting the business.

I just hope things can return to the warm, welcoming atmosphere I remember from not...

I ordered our dinner by phone tonight, 2 crab sticks, 2 peices of NZ snapper, 3 sea scallops, 3 battered mussels and 1•5 Sprite, i ordered every thing battered and half cooked, well that's what I ordered, the phone manner was very poor, no customer service at all, we had to drop our granddaughter of to her choir night also, then we headed down to the shop, when we got there no one was in the shop waiting, no customers waiting, my food was waiting, when we got home, the only things half cooked were the scallops and crab sticks, the mussels were tiny, I mean tiny, the fish were burnt, fish stuck to the batter, that's why I asked for half cooked, that place used to be awesome when we first started going there, busy and customers lined out the doors, Thursday nights was always packed and phone orders was the fastest way to get dinner, place is a let down from former owners and years, won't be going back, worst of all our...

This is our regular fish and chip shop that we usually love, however the short bald older man on tonight has completely tarnished the place and we will never spend another cent, and we spend at least $100 each visit. He was extremely agitated, cannot work under pressure if there is more than 3 people in the shop and has no skills to be able to be working in a fast paced environment. He told us “if you’re ordering you better order now”, slammed the register after we had more than one item order at 6:50pm and made me feel extremely uncomfortable, such a disappointing experience and has completely ruined this place unfortunately! We’ve also seen him huffing and puffing at other paying customers other times we’ve come, he does not have the skills to be working here and suggest some customer service training and anger management. On a side note the food is always amazing, and the ladies are lovely with great customer...

I follow Tasman Star Seafood on Facebook because I always buy my seafood especially oysters and Kina in Tasman in Varsity Lakes. I was so delighted to see that they have another shop on Olsen Avenue with sashimi choices the same as the one in Varsity. The shop is much smaller but still has good quality seashells and fish. They do offer fish and chips, fresh sashimi and sushi. I visited this afternoon and their seafood and sushi never disappoint. They also have a nice space outside where you can eat. It was very windy when I visited today and it made it challenging to eat without being blown away lol but it would be good once the weather is back to normal. I highly recommend this place and I hope it stays here longer like the first shop in Varsity Lakes. 😀

Yum! Came here with the fam and this was much better than I expected. Amazing for the price too. Got snapper, barramundi and calamari and it was all great. The Barra was maybe a little over done but the snapper was perfect and they do the calamari the right way removing that stringy thing. They were very busy so service was a little slow understandably but staff were nice, shop was clean and they have outdoor seating. All round great experience, will be back to buy some fresh whole fish too as those were priced quite well. Note I did already start eating when we took the photo so there was more in the box!

Is this $21 worth. Over cooked and non edible. The guy that served me said the snapper can't be grilled because it breaks apart. Fine I hate deep fried but I was starving. Opened the bag to see this burnt something that looked like charcoal. Went back in straight away and they said it was raw if they cooked it less. You must be joking. Went to eat it and it was drenched in oil and threw it to the birds out the front. Calamari was below average also. This is what you call a greasy spoon take away. Buy it fresh and cook it yourself
