This beautiful little restaurant is a rare find. It is a family run labour of love by a wonderful couple who are obviously experts in their field and care deeply about the quality their food and beer but even more so the overall experience.
When you walk up itās an unassuming little place on a busy corner with a couple of tables that are perfect for working your way through the extensive list of specialty Belgian beers served in their dedicated and extravagant glasses. A side at this point; ask the owners about these glasses and the lengths they have gone to procure them and they will dazzle you with their knowledge of how each of the glasses shows of the beer it is designed for.
Back to the venue; you are then lead round to a beautiful covered courtyard strewn with ivy and a bubbling fountain in the background. It immediately makes you feel like you are spending a lazy evening in an enchanted courtyard in Bruges.
The menu is small and meticulously chosen. You would be remiss to not order the mussels and again, ask the hosts about the care and attention that went in to choosing these. (They are fresh and still in the seawater they grew up in until the moment they turn up steaming on your plate). The frites are as good as any the Belgians are famed for. We look forward to making our way through the menu but it will be very hard not to just keep reordering the mussels washes down by draught...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI cannot rave enough about this restaurant. They have the best mussels Iāve eaten on the Gold Coast. Their selling point is the small menu. I initially was skeptical, the menu includes 2 or 3 starter options, and a small handful of mains to choose from (and a delicious but small assortment of desserts). But this is the perfect example of what Gordon Ramsay talks about when he says to keep a menu small and perfect the food they specialise in serving.
The restaurant itself is a very small, intimate experience. It feels like dining in someoneās beautifully kept backyard. It is a family owned business so the service feels very personal, friendly, and caring towards your needs.
They have a huge alcohol menu and will give you some of their best recommendations of drinks to compliment the mussels.
By far one of my favourite restaurants anywhere. And reasonably priced - better quality but cheaper than some of the high end, instagram popular seafood places Iāve been to. They deserve to be on the top of the list of restaurants in a google search, because anyone that doesnāt know about this place is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was curious about a Belgian restaurant being in Curumbin Waters. I thought that was a bit random so I came to check it out with my wife last night on our weekend away. I am very glad I did. The setup transported you out of Qld and into a Belgian village which was great. The dining area is a covered courtyard which is intimate with just the right amount of tables, spaced to fill the area and also to ensure a relaxing private vibe. It is a family run business. We were served by the husband, wife, and elder son. The younger son also came to say hello. Service was excellent and super friendly. The menu is mostly mussels or meatballs cooked to an authentic Belgian regional recipe. There is a good wine list and 40 Belgian beers. The food was outstanding. My wife had mussels, I had meatballs. We both had the Belgian chocolate mouse for dessert which was rich and decadent! I have been to Belgium a bunch of times and have tried 100s of beers, so it was nice to get to have some of them again. What a great restaurant. If you are in Currumbin then you should definitely come...
