The Jolly Roger Seafood and Burgers — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I am not sure if it is the cultural difference or something else, but everytime I walk into a fish and chips restaurant I walk out really disappointed. The food is just not good. The fries are mealy and the fish tastes like nothing but deep fried bread crumbs. Also the price doesn't add up. How can you justify this pricing if there is a Chinese and Japanese restaurant next door which actually sell real meals for less money. I just needed a reminder to not walk into a fish and chips restaurant anymore I think. I'm sorry, maybe if it is your thing go for it. But I would highly suggest to do some market research so your dishes can be a bit more colour- and flavourful.

The service was very friendly though, and the reason I walked in here and not in the Chinese or Japanes was because the interior looked cosy and warm. But lots of improvement...

Can not recommend this place enough! Friendly, lovely owner! During our last day of our holiday on Gold Coast both my daughter and I were a bit tired and hungry, ordered food off ubereats and delivery driver took over and hour and half. The owner called after 25 minutes saying food was made and ready for pick up but no driver. Long story short, eventually got the van we hired ready and drove to shop to pick up only to find out delivery driver had just left. Owner just saw how exhausted we and just said don't worry about it and she would figure it out with ubereats later to sort out payment and and offered to re do our order basically without payment. Ordered through uber. Did not get the entire order. I ordered four portions of fish bites (expecting 3 pcs per portion), instead got four tiny bites. Guess that can happen, but not great when you have 6 mouths to feed and it turns up 20 minutes after the latest possibly time that uber estimated (and 40 mins after the original estimate). We were able to get a refund through uber. Wasn't uber's fault. Poor uber team were waiting ages. Also very expensive generally for what we got. But that could be my kiwi bias.
