The Original Tugun Bakery — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I visited this bakery yesterday and ordered a plain meat pie, which I had always enjoyed here in the past. However, this time was a disappointing and unpleasant experience. As I was eating, half of the filling spilled out, and I noticed a dark chunk within the pie. Upon closer inspection, I realised it was a piece of fatty meat WITH ALL OF THE HAIR STILL ON IT! I was absolutely disgusted and couldn’t bring myself to take another bite.

I would have emailed the bakery directly, but unfortunately, there’s no visible email contact listed. This experience really makes me question the quality of the ingredients used, and I’m honestly not sure if I can stomach the thought of another meat pie from anywhere after this. Purchased a vegetarian pastie last week, only vegetarian pie option available (spinach rolls and quiche are not pies). FULL of cabbage! Terrible, could taste nothing else. Not my idea of a nice vegetarian pastie?? Filling a pastie with cabbage is a cheap ingredient for the baker, but horrible for the customer who has to eat it! YUCK!

Happy to update my review of a few months ago, purchased another vegetable pastie from this bakery and it was delicious! No longer full of cabbage, instead a nice mix of veggies and mashed potato, full of flavour and ingredients. Well done Tugun Bakery….great improvement, will happily...

Asked for a cheese (vegetarian) triangle. Was given chicken. Disgusted. Staff member was very apologetic but it's not hard to get these things right. Luckily it wasn't a food allergy and medical episode. Edit- Paul, as a 25yr vegetarian I can assure you there was a single bite taken out of the pastry before I returned it with distaste.
