After leaving Sovereign hill’s winter wonderland, my family of 6 adults and 1 child were looking to support the local Ballarat Resturant for dinner during our weekend stay, tried to order take away for our family and asked the staff do you offer any vegan options or can we order veganise their dishes as that’s never been an issue any where else before, the staff member went off to speak with who l think was either the owner/manager to see as we had 2 vegans wanting to order l being one of them, they both returned only to state no vegan options the best we can do is vegetarian by the man, l laughed and walked off and went down to the next corner and ordered our takeaway meals from kambei japanese with no issues. It’s funny, when traveling to KL in 2018 l could order vegan options any where happily, in Langkawi you can order vegan options any where with ease, here in Ballarat Victoria the best they’ll offer is vegetarian. Great if you’re a vegetarian. One can only guess with that comment they don’t cook as you order, they have ready made meals to only offer vegetarian dishes only. Do better it’s 2025. It’s your loss, wouldn’t recommend this establishment, go to kambei way more friendlier service and food delicious too and they...
Read moreFood was absolutely terrible, but the service was the saving grace for this restaurant. Our server was clueless about a lot of our questions however he always checked with the kitchen, was very polite and welcoming and checked up on us. However, despite the pleasant service, I'm afraid to say the food was absolutely unpleasant. Firstly, the vegetable:meat ratio in all the dishes with meat was easily 3:1. When you order a "chicken with black bean sauce" dish, you shouldn't be getting "vegetables with chicken" dish. Secondly, all the dishes tasted the same. They were bland, and don't taste anything like what they're advertised to taste like. Hot and sour soup is not supposed to have peas in it. It originates from Sichuan. Assam fish should be served with fish fillets and not fish cutlets. So should Malay curry fish. Perhaps to people who have never tasted real Southeast Asian food, this place might be good. But as a native SouthEast Asian who has spent time in Malaysia and lived in Thailand for a bit, I am very familiar with SouthEast Asian tastes and this place...
Read moreAdvised by locals this was good. Ordered takeaway including 128 Mongolian Pork. this came battered, fried , dry, pre cooked meat in a bulk sauce , chewy recycled food. Unable to remove the batter as the meat was soo overcooked! Phoned restaurant and spoke to manager. Advised the meal should not have been battered as neither chicken or beef were. We could come and receive another meal for free or come and speak to the manager after 12..00 next day Not appropriate as we were elderly, tired and in a caravan park and leaving in the morning. Told to phone the owner next day and tell him after 12.00. Explained we were leaving for another destination and asked if the manager could phone us, Left details. no reply. Food was not authentic as advertised, Cooked to suit the Australian palate and only just a little better than the worst ever we have eaten in...
