My partner and I frequently use to purchase our seafood here, noting that there are many other reputable fish mongers around. We recently purchased some nice looking salmon fillets which were a well deserved treat, especially at the expensive price point of 50$ per kilo. When we got home and prepared the meal we found (in each piece) over 10 bones. This was very disappointing. There was no indication that there would be bones in the expensive fillets and I do not believe this is standard practice as in the past they were fine, and the other fish mongers around (cheaper and just as good) have all been boneless.
We notified the business of our disappointment (leaving out the part about the constant poor service the young staff provide, kids will be kids) And the rude response we received back indicated that even at $50 a kilo the fish monger doesn’t have to take the bones out of the fillet, if we wanted boneless fish we should have asked for only the tail of the salmon (this made me laugh as I didn’t know I needed to know the anatomical aspects of salmon to buy it… as I’m not the fish monger and that’s what I’m paying for). They suggested purchasing other fish which is not helpful. Finally they said we needed to ask for boneless fish if we wanted it…. Yes I feel like we were gaslit! We don’t often have issues here, although the swordfish can be a little soppy sometimes, the prawns usually make up for it; however the response from the business was more disappointing than the product so unfortunately our weekly fish shop will have to support another business. All up, product is alright usually, service is consistently poor… and if you want a boneless fillet, apparently you...

Read moreI'm a customer of Aussie Seafood House since years but found over the last months that the quality is not up to scratch anymore. Some time ago I bought a smoked trout with a stick-on label, saying that this was good for some time. At home I found that somebody must have re-labelled the fish, because it was definitely OFF and very bad smelling. Yesterday I bought some Tassi salmon, a total of $ 39. The fish went right into my electric Esky and at home into the fridge. This morning when we wanted to cook the fish, it was a terrible smell like rotten fish. The same story we had some month ago. And yesterday, an asian customer was complaining. He has ordered some seafood but wasn't happy with the pre-packed order. He wanted something really fresh and was disappointed, that he had to wait for the staff in the back of the shop to prepare his order. That is not what I call a good service and business. Seafood has to be fresh, and a customer should trust the shop that they live up to the...
