This afternoon my mother, her partner, my 2 year old daughter and I dined at buzz stop. We first looked at the menu at the pub, then I ordered an $8 smoothie from the long yard which was 40% water and 60% froth so we all decided to try buzz stop.
My mum and her partner are deaf and basically blind (sorry mum) but really friendly, so they talk louder then others and are very assertive. They were talking to the waitress about the menu and options etc, I've worked in cafes and I can see how it could appear that they were rude (if you were simply watching from the kitchen) but they weren't. There just not posh.
we ordered three of the same meal, my mum is super allergic to capsicum so her meal was without it. When they were delivered I couldn't see capsicum on mine so asked mum if hers had capsicum ( I wanted her to stop and let me check because she said hers didn't but she didn't have her glasses on), the waitress came over abruptly looked at my meal told me what it was, looked at my mums and told her what it was and looked at my mums partners and told him what it was, at first she wasn't aware we all had the same. She wasn't the waitress who took the order so didn't know about the no capsicum. I then said yes we got the same I'm just checking if mums has capsicum, then the female chef yelled from the kitchen “2capsicum, 1 without” again, we knew this… we ordered the meals. Turns out mum had the one with capsicum, but it's OK I stopped her before she put it in her mouth and nearly died.. Throughout our meals I could see the chef looking at my mother and her partner and clearly talking about them, I ignored it though, I know how stressed chefs are and I wasn't looking for an argument.
When we had finished and after enjoying the live music I decided it was time to take my daughter home for a nap, I said goodbye to my mum and her partner, as I got to the park my mum called and told me that as they had paid (83$) for the meals and drinks we ordered the chef had picked up the smoothie cup I had left on the table (I literally forgot, I didn't leave it there as a sign of disrespect at all, I simply wanted to take my daughter Home and forgot about it in my haste) the female chef aggressively picked it up and put it in my mother's face and asked her if she was going to take her stuff with her.
My mum was shocked and taken aback, she didn't know how to react. So mum paid and left… .. And then she realised she shouldn't have to be spoken to so aggressively. . Mum went back and spoke to the male chef while the female chef hid out the back and my mothr explained what had happened and told him about the smoothie and why we had chosen buzz stop and she told him it wasn't acceptable to be treated the way she was.
We choose buzz stop, we choose to spend $80 there, we thought the food and waitresses were great, and then the feral chef showed her true colours.
I think my mother deserves an apology.
I think it's absolutely disgusting the way that my mother and her partner were treated, I think the female chef needs to reconsider her body language and actions, it is not OK to go making assumptions or to yell at customers from the kitchen. Know one deserves to be treated so poorly and buzz stop do not deserve her hard...
Read moreIf you're not into cars, bikes or coffee this may not be the place for you. It can be quite loud and smell of petrol. As much as I enjoy all of these I don't think I'll be back. They don't know how to make a proper flat white and there were grinds at the bottom of the cup. If you're buying food I don't suggest using the menu. No chef in the kitchen, and if there is, you should be ashamed of yourself for letting badly prepared food out to customers. Whats in the shop window looked nice, I'd stick to the basics. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Swiss Mushooms. They serve both with spinach which you could have at least wilted instead of serving raw. Traditional Eggs Benedict doesn't have spinach and I asked for it to be removed. At least you got that right. Eggs Benedict doesn't get served on croissant either. The Swiss Mushooms had sourdough bread. Why wasn't the bread with the Benedict? Of the 4 eggs we received not one of them was cooked the same, this is a basic culinary task. One of the first things you learn. Eggs were ranging from watery just cooked, slightly hard with a broken yolk, harder again then overcooked. I paid for the pleasure of watching both those yolks break, not just the one. Please let me season my own meal. Throwing pepper on everything doesn't suit everyone. Salmon portion was good. Enough hollandaise for every bite. The girls serving both tried to offer us someone elses meal even though we clearly had our table number showing. Read the docket! Give the servers a number to look for! A lot of room for...
Read moreCame in with high expectations for take away breakfast this morning. First impressions were of friendly, fast service while we looked over the menu. My friend and I ordered separately and the young man that served me was accommodating to my vego variation request, and our coffee's to drink while we waited arrived promptly and were well made. Part of my order arrived within 15 mins, but things went down hill from there. After 30 minutes we inquired about the other half of our order, to find it had never been placed. Mistakes happen, but how it is dealt with is key. The take away coffee's arrived but by the time the food finally did, over an hour after ordering, were stone cold. I let the young waitress, who was drinking a coffee ehe chatting to other staff in the cafe, know that I was leaving it untouched as it was now undrinkable. Her smart response was "OK no worries". A simple apology would have been nice. Oh and the tradie burger was a dogs breakfast, burnt bun and thrown together so that it was impossible to pick up. So much potential, but a...
