Arrived at the Long Yard Larder looking forward to brunch. Unfortunately, there were at least half a dozen yelling children out the front and all table spots were full or full of dirty, uncleared plates and cups. I went to the counter to order - the girl behind it didnât smile at any point (unwelcoming), and when I asked if they made their own hollandaise sauce, she couldnât tell me. I had to prompt her to check with the cook (the person making the food here could not be described as a chef). For those wondering, no, they donât make their own hollandaise - a sure sign of a poor quality kitchen. I ended up ordering bacon and eggs with a hash brown on the side. I got only bacon, eggs and white toast with one pack of lurkpak butter which covered only 1/2 a piece of the fairly average toast. No sourdough here! And despite ordering a hash brown on the side, it didnât materialise. But at least the egg yolks were firm as requested. When asked where I was sitting I indicated one of the only empty spots (which was full of dirty dishes and cups from the previous diners) and asked if someone could clear it. The coffee came in reasonable time but was quite bitter. Iâm not sure whether thatâs due to the beans used or the lack of a quality barista. I had to ask for the mess on the table to be cleared again. Although someone came out shortly after to pick up the plates, there was no sign of a cloth to clean down the dirty table top. I had to ask for it to be wiped it down. When my meal arrived I asked for an extra pack of Lurpak butter, which was delivered unsmilingly. My hash brown was missing and the bacon on my plate was literally black in more places than it was bacon coloured. I really didnât want to cause more fuss but it was actually inedible. When the girl came back with my butter, I reminded her that Iâd ordered a hash brown. I attempted to eat the bacon, but it was really unpleasant. When she came back with my hash brown I pointed out how burnt it was. She said it was âcrispyâ. I said there was a difference between crispy and burnt. Fortunately she ended up taking the plate away without me having to have a hissy fit. Still no smiles and no apology. The breakfast came back fairly quickly and was fine - but they had forgotten I wanted my yolks firm and they were gooey - running all over my plate. My worst nightmare. A very average offering - I would have had a tastier and less stressful breakfast if Iâd cooked it for myself at home. And saved myself nearly $30. DO NOT RECOMMEND. One star for redoing my meal and one star for responding to my requests, however unsmilingly. EDIT: I have removed one star in response to the ownerâs dismissal of my review as exaggerated and unfair. Not even an apology for the sub-par experience. Clear to see where the staff get their attitude from. The bar at this establishment is set very low. Do yourself a favour and drive the extra 20 minutes to a cafe where the service is decent, delivered with a smile and your dish arrives without being burnt to a cinder and missing items youâve paid for. NB: do not attempt to eat here in Summer. The footpath you sit on gets blisteringly hot and your view into the side of parked cars adds to the radiant heat. Itâs...
Read moreUnfortunately I took my family out to this cafe to grab some late breaky and have a coffee. Everything started out greatâŚ.we got a table quickly, place was busy and staff were friendly on arrival.
To the unfortunate part of our experience was the food. Almost every order was wrong or not cooked the way we had advised to be cooked.
Once food arrived we all looked and my father and myself food were not right and my motherâs food was covered in sauce which we asked to be placed on the side. My eggs were like a rock and my fathers were just cooked wrong.
We sent it back and a short time later my fathers food came back out and nothing had been changed and being in hospitality for almost 20 years I know it was put under the heat lamp and sent straight back out.
This is not something I usually do but I would not recommending this place for something to eat. FOH staff were lovely and can only write the docket but unfortunately this time and like a lot of times chefs think they rule the world and have lost customers in this case and is their complete fault.
Also $157 for 4 meals and two coffees is a bloody joke and to not eat anything of it...
Read moreVERY Disappointed âšď¸ We are repeat clients and drive from Western Suburbs. Took our daughter and partner there, due to our past experience. Even told them, this place is so good, worth the drive. Went early so it wouldnât be too busy. Unfortunately, yesterday Saturday 26th February, 8.30am our breakfast experience was very very poor. We waited over 1hour and half. The waitress was not helping either. All our orders bad. My order was the worst. I ordered poached Eggs, bacon and toast. My eggs were so so so small and over cooked to point it was hard boiled with 2 thin little strips bacon and sour dough was stale and not toasted. Presentation on plate was super sad. Looked as if they ran out bread and bacon? We had to order to lots 2 coffee rounds and juice. I did express my concern and told with no care. We got a new chef. I understand things go wrong. Itâs how it was handled and cared for. I wonât recommend this place now...
