My partner and i attended Kallangur Tavern today with the intentions of meeting his family there to have a celebration lunch and drinks as it's his birthday. As we were waiting for his family to arrive My partners gone into the gaming room, mind you I don't even play the gaming machines I just followed him whilst on the phone to my mother. After 10 minutes of being in the gaming room we were approached by a lady gaming/bar attendant and she requested my partner remove his hat and I produce Id. No problem at all, I produced my driver's licence which is expired by a month and a bit haven't gotten around to renew it as I don't have a car and she said it was unacceptable identification because it's expired. Now I'm a qualified bar supervisor for a bar and restaurant in Sandgate and every experienced in the hospitality industry and with liquor licensing policy and regulations. The manager Michael then came out and proceeded to state that it is policy that staff and management can decide to refuse the identification if it's expired and that's the decision he's making to refuse to accept my id I even stated I have my health care card, Medicare card, bank card, and birth certificate but nope. He proceeded to tell my partner and I that we had to leave the premises. I then recorded me showing my id and my other identity documents and him refusing them. Now the problem I have is, I have bank statement proof of attending the tavern on the 26th of July presenting to the bar with the same Id that was infact expired on this occasion aswell and the lady at the bar I'd checked me and proceeded to serve me my drink and we had a lovely lunch and evening that afternoon, but today I was singled out and humiliated and kicked out over having expired Id. I completely understand if I had no identification on me but to go to the length of kicking me out over expired Id is a joke lmfao. Michael the manager is on a serious power trip from the position he's in and should train all the staff to the same standards of customer service especially when the tavern staff accepted my id on the 26th of July but a different staff member won't accept it today? Double standards. Won't be bringing my money back to this venue. Shame on the manager Michael, rudest and poorest people skills same as the lady staff member on the gaming floor today. The cameras in the gaming room will show you how several of the other gaming patrons reacted to them kicking me out over expired ID, to say they were appalled is an understatement. I'll be taking this to the senior superior...
Read moreTitle: Disappointed Experience at Kallangur Tavern: Lack of Transparency and Inconsistent Policies
Rating: 1/5 stars
I recently had an unfortunate experience at my local establishment, Kallangur Tavern, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. My son and I visited the tavern with the intention of enjoying a meal and watching the UFC paid on TV fights, only to be turned away due to an age restriction that was neither communicated nor displayed within the venue.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a sense of discomfort and unwelcome. The staff informed us that the Liquor Licensing Commission had prohibited anyone under the age of 18 from watching the UFC fights on live TV. However, what troubled us the most was the complete absence of any information or signage regarding this policy inside the tavern or online.
It is essential for any establishment to provide clear and transparent guidelines to its patrons, especially when it comes to age restrictions or viewing limitations for certain events. Regrettably, Kallangur Tavern failed to fulfill this expectation, leaving us feeling embarrassed and confused.
To add further disappointment, we later discovered that another nearby tavern welcomed us to enjoy a meal while watching the UFC fights, assuring us that they had received no information from the Liquor Licensing Commission confirming such a ban.
As a concerned customer, I urge Kallangur Tavern to improve their communication and transparency regarding their policies. Displaying clear signage and updating their online platforms would go a long way in avoiding similar uncomfortable situations for future patrons.
It is vital for any establishment to keep their customers informed about any changes or restrictions to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, in this case, Kallangur Tavern fell short, leaving a lasting negative impression on both my son and me.
I sincerely hope that the management of Kallangur Tavern takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to prevent similar occurrences in the future. As a member of the local community, I believe in supporting businesses that prioritize the satisfaction and comfort of...
Read moreFound the ordering a meal process frustrating as my Auntie and I were the first to do so at around 5:30pm 12/9/22 when the place was empty and were told to oder via the smartphone app etc. but were served at the counter. What if your customers are paying in cash and how many elderly people have smart phones and know how to use these specific features. As we were leaving i saw a table of 3 elderly people trying to navigate the process on one phone which then makes it harder for them to pay separately.
My auntie and I ordered a Chicken Parmigiana and a Chicken Snitzel both arrived overcooked and burnt to a crisp to the point where my Auntie asked me to cut it up for her and is was too tough and hard to cut into pieces and pretty sure this was payback for questioning their ordering process prior.
Before I even had finished my meal a staff member asked if she could take my plate and asked how the meals were, as i explained the meals were over cooked and burnt to which she replied she would let the chef know but how does that help us the paying customer?
Sidenote: Was contacted 2 days later by the Venue Manager, Mark in regards to my justified poor review and found him to be an engaging, pleasant, respectful and willing to listen to constructive criticism. He handled the situation very well with tact and diplomacy and offered my Auntie and myself a complimentary meal which we took up last night 15/9/22 and have to give credit where it's due both meals were cooked perfectly and were delicious! Congatulations Mark you are a credit to the Kallangur Tavern and genuinely care for your business and your...
