Schnitz North Lakes — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

Great service and food thanks to the manager (I think).

I used to live around this area and came here often. The food was very good, I really enjoyed the slaw and chips. The slaw was fresh, I liked the parsley in the slaw. I also enjoyed the taste of potato itself and the seasoning of chips. The schnitzel itself though, sometimes was just good enough, sometimes dry and tough. But because I like the slaw and chips so much, I came back here again and again.

I then moved to other area and occasionally visit here when my work is around here but the quality of food was getting bad. The slaw was the same good, chips were just ok, but the schnitzel itself was getting even drier, tougher, sometimes even smelly.

I then visited Chermside branch and had the same meal about a month ago, it was very good! It was the taste I first enjoyed when North lakes branch was just open. What really surprised me was the manager (a man in back shirts, black hairs, I think his name is Daniel). He was extremely friendly, and I was so impressed with his such bright attitude when I ordered. And I received the meal, it was very good too! From a customer's point of view, I had an impression that it was the manager who manages the taste of my meal too.

About 2 weeks ago, I again visited North lakes branch to have my usual meal (Pork schnitzel, chips, slaws). I was hesitating and was about to go to Grill'd instead but since Schnitz is not around my place, I just gave a go again and guess what. The same manager in black shirts was there greeting me at the counter, calling my name, remembering me from my one visit at Chermside branch! It was very pleasant experience and I ordered and received the meal, and the meal just turned to be as good as the Chermside branch meal!

It has been long time since I really enjoyed the Schnitzel from this branch, I just liked the slaw and chips a lot so I came back again, did not expect anything from the main item. But this time the meal was just perfect, it was as good as when this branch was just open. I could only see it this way, the manager is the only reason for this. I was going to leave a review on Chermside branch when I received such a great service for a simple lunch, but I got lazy, then I had another great service and meal from another branch from the same manager, I kept this in my mind to leave a review. Updating my review because things have seriously changed.

I consider Schnitz a treat, something to look forward to. I remember it as moderately priced and always delicious. This is why I journeyed to my local store tonight with my partner, in hopes of a positive end to a long day. When I arrived I found that all the prices had been increased by a significant 25% since my last visit. No matter, it's a treat after all, it's worth it. When I tried to order my staple Chip Butty, I'm told that the store, inexplicably, no longer sells BBQ sauce, at all. And I'll need to modify my order to the much less appetising gravy. I opted to try something different and ordered a Hawaiian, hold the pineapple. In thia process one of the food prep staff took another order still wearing their gloves (unhygenic). I then proceeded to wait 30mins for this order, at which point I was handed an order that had been sitting on the counter for 5mins. Such that it was cold by the time my partner and I got home. On opening our orders hopeful the end of the experience was better than it had been so far we found that both still included ingredients we had specifically requested removed. So in the end I overpaid, for a meal I didn't want. Then waited too long for a cold meal, that wasn't even what I ordered. I dont want a refund, or store credit or anything. I want the memory back of the last time I reviewed this store. When it wasn't an complete dissapointment. ‐---------------- I love schnitz and my local store is no different! If I ever feel like a burger wrap or just a schnitzel this is my first choice. To top it all off their chips are absolutely amazing! Hands down best chips ever. The wait at this store can get a little long but the customer service is great and the prices are average for this level of dining. Ask for the royal chip butty! It's not on the menu but it is simple...

Just had the most underwhelming meal . Arrived early at 5pm and it was not busy . My husband ordered 2 beef schnitzel and chips and 2 iced teas in bottles . Order came to $36 which I thought was exorbitant!! The meals arrived and the schnitzel was too thick and totally chewy and tough . We discovered that the cashier had automatically upgraded our chips to large without asking us and the meals were charged at an extra price . All that was on the plate was over cooked chips and a tough schnitzel with a slither of lemon. When a lovely young lady enquired with us about how we were enjoying our meals I had to answer her honestly when she said” are they yummy or delicious”?, to which I replied NEITHER!!! The schnitzel is tough !! We were not offered an alternative or a refund . She said she would pass our comments on to the cook . We left feeling ripped off and I will never go back again .

UPDATE: after Someone from the North Lakes office got in touch with me via email I was happy to accept their offer of a gift card to go back and try our experience with them again . It’s now over 4 weeks since they said they had posted me one and 2 attempts by email to contact them about this have gone unanswered. I GIVE UP!!!! I am quite resolute in my decision to never go back again . Poor service and definitely very poor follow...
