I’m normally pretty tolerant of mistakes when eating out especially when I’m on a cruisy daytrip. Dining with an elderly neighbour this week, there were only three other tables filled, 10 people in total, table of four had already been served. Our order of the Special of the Day - Savoury Mince with Poached Egg Pecorino and Sourdough Toast was very slow coming. Patrons that had ordered burgers after us had finished and left the premises whilst our meal still hadn’t arrived. I asked if there were any problems.....the young lady on service was really, really pleasant and told me there were no problems but the savoury mince was being made to order. A further half hour later we were told again in a really pleasant tone, it was only twenty two minutes from the order being placed ( ah - totally incorrect ) and was ‘cooked to order and being plated as we speak’ .......a further 5 minutes as I went again to check, the plates started to be delivered.
A really nice and well presented plate, except the egg on top was advertised as poached yet came out fried, the sourdough had no colour to the toast, and the savoury mince lumps were primarily cold within a heated up sauce. The flavour was however, really very good.
My gripe - is just be honest......if somewhere along the line the order has been forgotten or overlooked, just let people know, don’t smile and Gaslight them, making them out to be idiots. There was no way in 22 mins, the people ordering and paying after us could have been served eaten and long gone, whilst our Savoury mince had been freshly made to order yet arrive cold...

We’ve been many times, and keep returning. Consistently delicious food. Big serves. Everything on the new menu sounds amazing, it was hard to choose! Middle eastern rosti is awesome and filling - savoury mince (no beans, peas or corn for those who may not like them) and hollandaise loaded on top of a potato rosti! Brekkie burger is huge and comes with chips!
Good coffee. Great quick service on most recent visit (a Saturday breakfast time). In the past we have sometimes experienced longer waits for some items during busy periods, for example where one persons’ meal didn’t arrive until most others were almost finished, and we’d gone to check if it was still coming. But usually only on really busy days. It is often busy/popular because it is often the only brekkie place open in town on certain public holidays which is a lifesaver when we’ve driven out to dayboro and little is open.
Main covered area is nice but also tables tucked around the back on the creek...
