Yesterday myself and 2 friends went to Tanja’s cafe for breakfast. I ordered my meal and specifically asked for firm fried eggs together with tomato toast and bacon and a latte. When it arrived I saw that one of the eggs was firm as asked and the other was very soft and runny. The tomato was cold. I decided not to say anything and was going to just leave the soft egg. I had started eating the food and my plate accidently hit the tall latte glass causing it to topple and tip out completely into my plate , over myself and into my bag which was on the ground. My friend went and told one of the waitresses that we had a coffee spill and was handed 2 paper serviettes to clean up. Obviously this was not enough so I went myself and asked for something else to clean up the mess. I was given a tea towel with spray and wipe on it to clean up myself. None of the staff came and helped . I waited approximately 20 minutes hoping for a replacement meal but none was forthcoming. I then spoke to the owner and explained what had happened and was told “well that’s not our fault”. I was totally flabbergasted at the reply. As a former small business owner myself in the hospitality industry, I would have replaced the meal as a gesture of GOOD WILL or at least a piece of toast so I could eat something. She begrudgingly said she would replace the coffee which she did. The dirty tea towel was left on our table for the duration of the stay and no staff made any attempt to cleanup. As I said I know it was my fault that the drink knocked and it was an accident but expected a more sympathetic outcome to the situation and because of the attitude of the owner i will NEVER EVER return to those premises again and will take my patronage...
Read moreWe visited here on Saturday 21st august, I wish I took photos but we wanted to get out of there as quick as we could, the tables and chairs were dirty, we asked for a high chair and it came to the table dirty also then taken away to be "cleaned" but still came back dirty, we had 3 kids with us who were hungry for some lunch after playing down in the local water, me and my partner both looked at the menu and nothing stood out so we decided to just get drinks each and something from the cabinet and let the kids eat a meal, when the food arrived we wished it didn't, our 9 year old got a kids cheeseburger which looked disgusting, our 6 year old got nuggets which were still half frozen, the chips that came with both meals were half frozen also covered in pepper which who wants pepper on their chips? My partner took a bite of the chips and turned his face, the kids took a few bites and it was yuck, our drinks arrived 1 iced coffee and 1 iced chocolate... the milk was hot and the cream was hot... it was very unpleasant to taste. We each got cakes from the cabinet, how old were they we asked ourselves they looked past their due date, my black forest cake came out splattered on the plate half broken and the staff obviously thought it was still good enough to salvage and send out. We paid $50 in total and we left 10 mins after the food arrived, the worst part was watching an elderly couple next to us eat their chewy boiled looking seafood. Avoid this place if you visit the local area. We went home hungry annoyed and feeling dirty and sick not to...
Read moreThe must place to go to when in Wellington Point is this place. Tanya's Cafe on Wellington Point is our recommendation to go to for coffee, cake, lunch or Dinner. We had just returned from celebrating a friends birthday feeling satisfied and totally content with the food and drink. The food is amazing, the service outstanding, coffee and cake to die for. Our table for nine had been booked few days ago and when the day came for us to celebrate the birthday we were greeted with a smile and a friendly banter between us and the staff. We live in the area for over 35 years now and Tanyas's has always been our choice for coffee and cake. Why? Because it is the place to be. I highly recommend this place to you. If you are an overseas visitor and in the area please place Tanya's a must place to sit and enjoy the warmth the owners and staff share with their customers. We have never ever been disappointed with the service. As an added bonus after your coffee n cake take a short drive to the point, take a walk on the peer, observe King Island an if you are lucky enough to catch low tide you can walk around the island. What more do you want in a days outing at Wellington Point. If you are there still at dusk and could partake in a seafood basket or a steak and beer don't forget to return to Tanya's. You will nor be...
