Malcolm's Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Griffith City Council

Unfortunately, we're only visiting Griffith for 3 days, which isn't long enough for us to become regular customers 😞 at this absolutely wonderful restaurant. Would definitely be regulars if we lived here. The staff that greeted us were very friendly and inviting, we had no booking yet they found us a table, no problem. (We were accompanying 3 special needs clients) We ordered and within 5 minutes, the first of our food was on the table. The prawn cocktail was big enough to be a main meal, and absolutely delicious prawns. I had almost made my way to the bottom of my dish before I remembered to take a photo. My main dish was salt and pepper prawns, and I'm being completely honest, the amount of prawns on my plate is what we would normally receive on a prawn platter for 3 people. (Sadly, the photo I took is too blurry to put up). One of those with us, has sensory issues and couldn't cope with the texture of the food she had ordered, so Belinda spoke to Malcolm, and in a couple of minutes, she was served complimentary food, served exactly how she has always eaten it!! We all struggled to finish, we shouldn't have had entrees, and we ended up taking 2 full meals away. Then our special young man wanted dessert, (because there's always room for dessert when we're kids), and although not on their menu, Malcolm had (exactly what our special man wanted) made and brought to the table!! Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough, and our waitress, Belinda, was brilliant. She couldn't have been more helpful. The prices for the quality of the food and the serving sizes was incredibly inexpensive. I think I can honestly say this is the BEST Chinese food I, personally, have ever eaten. THANK YOU Malcolm and staff, and Belinda. Nobody could ever regret visiting this awesome...

So.. we had a take away but were able to peek into the restaurant and the diners looked really happy, very busy right from opening which is always a good sign. ask for our take away order and was surprised in the weight of the bag, normally the bag isnt all that heavy from a Chinese place, but this one… I must say should have come with a heavy warning.

lots of food does not always give the impression of good food, there are many a place that gives you lots but you wont finish it cause its not that good, but here at Malcolms this isnt the case, the food was so moreish but had to stop eating as there are not enough notches in my belt to eat that and well… walk!

Honey Chicken was gentle in flavour nothing felt over done or over powering, a perfect balance of flavours in that one, the Special fried rice, was good but I dont much like fish and was not aware that it had a fish in it, no problem though, I ate around it, was loaded with Prawn and Shrimp and flavourful, the star for me was the Mongolian Beef, punchy flavours and super tender meat, perfect balance of veg and sauce as well.

Everyone should try Malcolms at least once for a fantastic Chinese food experience.

Staff were flat out and still promptly gave my take away experience a good one to...

Disappointed with the Service

We recently ordered takeaway from Malcolm Chinese Restaurant in Griffith. While the food itself was good (we had Satay Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and King Prawn Sweet and Sour), the service left a lot to be desired.

Despite spending over $80 (including 3 cans of Coke), only one of the three dishes came with rice. When I called to clarify, the staff member insisted that I didn’t ask for steamed rice, even though I explicitly requested it instead of fried rice. She apologized but refused to resolve the issue, even for the Satay Chicken, which should have come with rice as part of the lunch menu.

For the King Prawn Sweet and Sour (not part of the lunch menu), I was told rice had to be ordered separately, but this wasn’t made clear during the ordering process. Instead of offering to make it right, I was told I could return and pay $10 more for rice.

It’s disappointing to see such a lack of care for customers, especially given the premium price. A little courtesy and effort to fix mistakes would go a long way. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place due to the poor customer service, despite the quality...
