Mixed Experience at Soma Soma Café in Gympie: An Honest Review
As a team from Restaurant Logics, we recently visited Soma Soma Café in Gympie on a bustling Sunday morning. Here's our honest review of our experience:
Upon arrival at around 9:30am, we were fortunate to secure a table despite the cafe's no-booking policy. The industrial and eclectic decor added a unique charm, and we appreciated the well-thought-out ambiance. The coffee machine, with its perspex sides, made an impressive statement. The seating options were plentiful, and we were relieved to find comfortable seats considering the high volume of customers. The outdoor seating and cozy couch at the back were nice additions.
While the café's menu had a stylish print press look, we found it quite challenging to decipher. The optional extras were particularly difficult to read and understand, which made the ordering process a bit cumbersome.
We ordered a soy latte and a banana almond smoothie along with avocado toast and the "chilli eggs." The coffee arrived promptly and was expertly crafted, showcasing the skill of their talented barista. However, the smoothie took an additional 10 minutes to reach our table, which was slightly disappointing but understandable given the busy crowd.
The food, unfortunately, took an agonizing 35-40 minutes to be served. The presentation of the avocado toast was rustic and visually appealing, but we felt the seasoning was a bit sparse. Thankfully, the table salt and pepper grinders were provided to rectify this. The "chilli eggs" dish, however, did not meet our expectations. It consisted of simply poached eggs on Turkish bread with sliced and pan-fried chillies, lacking the originality and creativity we had hoped for. Regrettably, we discovered a red produce rubber band cooked with the chillies, which we understand could have been missed during a busy service. We brought this to the attention of our waitress at the end of our meal.
What disappointed us the most was the lack of follow-up. Neither the chef nor the manager approached us or offered an apology, which we found unprofessional and discouraging.
While Soma Soma Café stands out as a unique coffee shop in the area, its popularity is understandable. However, we recommend that they focus on enhancing their customer service and ensuring a seamless dining experience from start to finish.
At Restaurant Logics, we believe in the importance of exceptional customer service, and we strive to help businesses achieve excellence in all aspects of their operations. If Soma Soma Café is looking for ways to enhance their customer service and overall performance, we would be more than happy to offer our expertise...
Read moreDuring our recent visit to Gympie, we had the pleasure of dining at SoMa SoMa Espresso not once, but twice—and each experience was exceptional. Our breakfast visit introduced us to a delightful array of dishes, all served in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring our meal was enjoyable from start to finish.
A couple of days later, we returned for lunch, this time accompanied by our pup. We were pleased to find that SoMa SoMa is pet-friendly, allowing us to enjoy our meal without worry. The outdoor seating provided a comfortable space for us and our furry friend, and the staff even offered a water bowl to keep our pup hydrated.
The menu boasts a variety of options, catering to different dietary preferences. On our lunch visit, the wife savored the Buddha bowl, which was both fresh and flavorful. It's evident that the café takes pride in offering dishes that appeal to a wide range of patrons.
The ambiance of SoMa SoMa is both relaxed and stylish, with 'groovy' decor that adds to the overall experience. The music selection complements the vibe, making it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a meal.
In summary, SoMa SoMa Espresso in Gympie offers a delightful dining experience with its friendly service, diverse menu, and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's a must-visit spot that caters to both humans and their...
Read moreI was glad to get out of here this morning, what an awful experience. 2nd time trying this place and won’t be going back. We spent over $100 here and treated like a number. No greeting when you arrive. Music felt like we were at a doof and was hard to speak over. They completely stuffed up 3 out of 4 meals. Toasties came out last, 45 mins later and were meant to be ham and cheese but were egg and bacon ??? Too bad if we were allergic to egg we would have had to wait another hour for them to replace it. My poached eggs were gooey and watery, but otherwise the food was O.K.- nothing to rave about. Waiter was nice enough but had no idea what he was doing. Water tastes like metal. The waitress reluctantly made a token apology but was happy to take more money from me for coffees. I’ve had an açai bowl here as well which was basically a very overpriced fruit smoothie- no granola, peanut butter or nuts- just a small bowl of blended fruit and some old watermelon on the side. A shambles of a place overall, get your act together, our town talks. You could do so well if...
