Masala Hut — Restaurant in Hobart

My partner and I have just finished our meal and are quite shocked to read the 1 star reviews on here as our experience was nothing but delightful! The staff were really nice and chill and food came out really quick!

The appetisers (we had the vegetarian appetiser special) were really tasty and some of the best Onion Banji my partner has ever had! The curries were amazing and great value too! We had the Kadai Paneer and the Chicken Saag and they had lovely textures and full flavours. The naan was very moreish and had a great selection to, and we really enjoyed the saffron and rose water rice as it complemented the curries well! After eating all that, we were sufficiently full but decided we had to try the Gulab Jamun and they were classic, syrupy and absolutely hit the spot!

Considering we ordered all of this, four drinks, and the bill only just passed $100, we can safely say this place has incredible value! We basically rolled out of there, haha! My partner and I highly recommend Masala Hut and look forward to eating there...

Although delicious meals at a fairly reasonable price the service lacked immensely. After ordering takeout we were advised that there would be a 30 minute wait which we happily waited for as we were told it was worth the wait. However, after an hour had passed with no sign of food we were told that it would be another 5 minutes. After all the waiting we were given a free coke and told that we were to blame as we should have called in to order.

What really annoyed me was that other individuals had done exactly the same process as us AFTER we had ordered and paid. Yet received their food much faster than us.

A more accurate estimate would have been much more appreciate along with maybe a slightly bigger gesture than $1.50 after blaming us. You know maybe like 2 cokes seeing there was two of us...

Tasty food, unfortunately not the best service from management. The website prices are not consistent with their in-store menu and they will not honour the price on their website if it is cheaper. They also do not honour the Entertainment Book for meal packs even though this is not stated online (website has since been updated), in their menu flyers or in the Entertainment Book itself. We ordered online then arrived expecting to pay $75 and were instead charged $115. Management would not budge on this, the only reason it was reduced to the website price ($99.90) was due to the kind front of house member who put it through regardless. Thank you to the front of house staff member who tried everything he could to sort out the situation. It's a shame management couldn't...
