So disappointing
We had been looking forward to our meal at Prossers after having it recommended to us by several locals.
On balance it wasn't the great night we had expected. Service seemed very rushed, and a little disinterested at times.
We were well greeted on arrival, and had both our first drinks order and entree order taken very quickly (perhaps a little too quickly)
We had only had a sip of champagne when the entrees arrived. No time to savour the champers or the view.
Entrees were mixed. The Coles Bay Calamari was perfectly lightly fried, tasted superb and nicely presented. It had all the flavours described and was very enjoyable - a real treat
As mussels were off the menu (no fault of the restaurant), the other entree ordered was a seafood chowder. Whilst the broth was tasty enough, there was very little seafood and what was there was so small it was barely noticeable. We had expected more and this dish was disappointing.
For mains, we ordered the Mixed Grill of Fresh Fish and the Blue Eye with a Scallop and Prawn Mousse Baked in French Butter Puff Pastry. Alas - they both arrived far too soon - almost immediately after the entree.
The grilled fish was fresh enough, but was sadly overcooked. It didn't fall apart as expected and was accompanied by a feeble salad (yellowing iceberg lettuce instead of the rocket described and not much else). We had better salads in most pubs we visited.
The Blue Eye in puff pastry was a lovely dish (and plentiful), but the accompanying broccoli and beans were so overdone they hung limply over the side of the bowl. Awful! - they were left uneaten.
The whole experience was rushed and the staff seemed keen to have us moving along so they could get home. It seemed they were living on past glories and were no longer willing to put in the effort. Incredibly we left less than an hour after arriving - far too quickly for a reputable restaurant on a quiet Thursday night.
We won't be back and I suggest others...

Dine here before and l had a fantastic experience. Food, Service and Atmosphere.
My Husband never been to Seagrass Restaurant before and today was his 1st and looks like his last aswell.
My husband ordered a Steak Sandwich, and when the food delivered to our table we are both looking forward for a nice lunch.
Unfortunately, my husband had his 1st bite and that's pretty much somes it all from his face, that it's uneatable.
He got a stale Turkish bread and to top it all, it was serve not toasted.
The Dining Server could clearly see that the sandwich wasn't touch, she approached our table and asked, how was our food.
We gave her our feedback, l ask her if this bread meant to be served toasted, and she said yes, and l then told her, well my husband bread was not toasted.
She walk away and came back and ask if she can get him another drink, but didn't offer if she can get his sandwich toasted.
When it comes settling our account, the Cashier ask as again how was our Dining Experience, and l repeated back our feedback about the Steak Sandwich, she just said oh!,
They had an opportunity twice to correct the situation there and then.
But they both did nothing about it.
It's ashamed because you got great ambiance and pretty sure lots of diners.
The 2 girls there who had the opportunity to correct the situation l reccommend to be re train how to retain a potential repeat local clientele.
As your locals are the ones you will tend to see more than visitors...
Read moreI just celebrated a 50th Birthday at Seagrass Long Point on the 17th September 22 and it was fantastic! I grew up in Tasmania but live in Sydney so organised it mostly remote from interstate. From the very beginning when I met with Judy - their Corporate & Events Manager, I knew I was in good hands. Judy had some wonderful suggestions, nothing was too much trouble and there was lots of followup which was great. Thanks so much Judy for all your attention to detail, your kindness and can do attitude in making my 50th birthday such a wonderful event. I then met Shub, to run through the final details of the night (as Judy was on holidays). Judy had perfectly handed over every detail to him and it was all executed perfectly. The staff on the night in James and Phillipe were just outstanding. Helping with any guest requests, with the music, the cake, the balloons, keeping the presents safe and worked so tirelessly to ensure the guests had a wonderful time. James and Phillipe you are just such an asset and were fabulous in your roles. The food and wine (Tasmanian package) was superb. The guests kept commenting on how delicious it all was. I couldn't recommend a more professional team in such a stunning location for any function. Thank you to all the Seagrass team. Kindest Regards,...
