The food here was excellent - competing easily with Melbourne and Sydney restaurants (and bettering many). I was hesitant at the prices when viewing the menu online, considering the venue as a lunch option for that day. The two pirk belly bao for $27 is much more than I'm used to for bao BUT the serving size for each bao is larger than average. This still makes me hesitate at the price when it was placed in front of me BUT the pork belly was amazing. The pork belly preparation and cooking was of high quality. Tge bao bun was extremely light and fluffy, making every other bao bun I've tasted seem gluggy. I might have preferred a little more coriander in the bun but that's minor. My dining partner was an elderly relative who ordered two scrambled free range eggs on toast. We swapped out the sourdough for whole meal. She also ordered bacon and potato rosti. The quality of the meal was excellent, with rich flavours the serving size for the eggs was large, and there bacon was heaped on the plated (i.e. lots of it) and very nicely cooked. For my elderly relative this was too much food, so half the size at half the price would have sufficed she got through the bacon and potato rosti with my help. The eggs were easily eaten. The toast went untouched. Even for me, this would have been too large, especially given the rich flavours. Maybe consider offering smaller option sizes at reduced price. Staff were good. Prices point to quality was excellent. No dusappotment, here. We didn't have a reservation and didn't have any trouble getting a table (but we arrived outside what I consider normal...
Read moreWere do I begin with this amazing café,
Of course I had to check this place out with a name like this haha.
This is hands down one of the best breakfast café’s I have been to so far.
I love how spacious the lay out is and it feels very welcoming.
The customer service is outstanding from the moment you are greeted at the door. I even had a chat to the manager who was so down to earth. You can tell they love what they do.
I had ordered the special of the day (cannot remember the name of the dish) but it was amazing, served on freshly toasted ciabatta, with hummus, avocado, fetta, dukkha, rocket, dressing, perfectly poached egg with a side of chorizo. The way the flavors all work together, you can tell that only fresh ingredients are used (my mouth is watering thinking about it haha).
My travel friend had ordered the brioche toast with lemon curd, vanilla ice cream, nuts, and strawberry compote. I had a taste and this was well balanced and not overly sweet (which I like). The lemon curd was amazing.
The coffee was so good, whatever beans they used, I love them. Came at the right temperature.
I do recommend you book in advance. I would definitely go back again when...
Read moreWent for Mother's Day. Supposedly it was busy but it didnt seem any busier than any other decent cafe in Hobart would be on a weekend.
The breakfast menu, was a slimmed down version of their regular menu which I'd heard was quite good. This didn't bother me overly but it was a little disappointing. I ordered the home made beans, w/ chorizo and mushrooms - can't complain they were pretty good. I did ask for some bacon on the side but was told they weren't doing sides today, this was disappointing because my father in-law was sitting up the other end of the table eating eggs bene. Surely they could just cook twice the bacon and give me half of that? I was happy to pay and it was a very very very simple request. But it was a no can do said the waitress.
This couldve easily has been a 4 or even a 5 star review, but some things leave a bitter thought in your head. I'll be back, we'll see if they improve on...
