The Little Banksia Café in Kensington has quickly become our new favourite spot — and for good reason. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into a warm, beautifully styled space with both charming indoor seating and a peaceful outdoor area. It’s the kind of place you never want to leave. The staff are absolutely lovely — genuinely attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. But the real star here is the food. Every dish we tried was cooked to perfection — from the rich, aromatic coffee to the savoury mains and the indulgent pancakes. Every bite was bursting with flavour, and the attention to detail in presentation and ingredients took the entire experience to the next level. You can tell that a lot of care goes into everything they serve. It’s not just delicious — it’s thoughtful, elevated, and memorable. The Little Banksia isn’t just a café, it’s a culinary experience. We can’t wait to come back! 10 out of 5!

Wow. Blown away by this absolutely packed little local. Even on a Thursday morning they were full to the brim and busy as. Tried a juice with watermelon, mint and something else (amazing!) and an iced mocha which was enormous. We'd seen the burger in the reviews and my word it did not disappoint. Two full pieces of deliciously fried chicken, perfectly seasoned with a hint of potentially coriander or something of the likes? Had to take a piece of chicken out to eat successfully! The sweet potato crisps tasted like they were from a packet they were amazing! For what - $18 from memory? - absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately I didn't particularly enjoy my cauliflower fritter. Was not quite as crispy and tasty as I was hoping. There seemed to be a lot of "mush" which felt lacking. The sweet potato crisps would do well to add some crunch to it! Either way, we'll be back for more!

I had the breakfast pannacotta, and it was exactly what I wanted in a pannacotta; smooth, jiggly, soft, melt in your mouth goodness. I was expecting it to be too tart (coconut, lime, vanilla pannacotta with passionfruit coulis) but it was well balanced in terms of sweetness and tartness. Paired with the crunchy crispy texture of the granola/puffed muesli and seasonal fresh fruits, it was a delightful brekky.

Husband had the buttermilk fried chicken burger. He's a little disappointed because it wasn't as juicy as expected (I thought it was too be expected as it seemed to be a breast piece), and there was a bone in one of his chicken pieces, which is a no-no in a burger. The sweet potato crisps are also quite oily. Also, whoever thought having loose corn in a burger was a good idea? It kept falling out 😂

Coffee was good, I would definitely have it again. The special of iced strawberry cream matcha was also delicious. I've not had many strawberry matcha drinks which have met expectations, but this one definitely did.

Unfortunately, it was a very busy time (Sat brunch 10.30am before Mother's Day) so we had to wait for a table. The pavement was packed with people waiting, and some of the outdoor seating spills over onto the pavement too. We got a table in the sun, which was too much heat for me; I'll know for next time. I anticipate once the rosemary hedge grows taller or the tree larger, it will become much nicer to sit outside and be shaded.

Tldr; food & drinks good. Gets busy....

Been meaning to review for a while. I think my partner and I have tried pretty much everything on the menu and could not fault a thing. Everything is delicious, generously portioned, restaurant quality presentation and VERY decently priced. Basically set the standard for cafes for me. Oh and the coffee and customer service is 🙌🏽🙌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 Consistently 5/5 for me. Really appreciate this place.

Special mentions Banksia big breakfast. They make their own bubble and squeak hash brown and it is divine. Creamy, crispy, fluffy- delightful. Their beans are like a mild chilli with a variety of beans and chorizo!! Bonus. So so flavoursome. It comes with 2 eggs, 2 bits of toast and a huge mushroom. Please try this one.

Bacon and egg roll. Ok it sounds simple but please trust me on this one. Also at $13.50 it’s an absolute steal.

Kale and corn hot cakes- I’m not sure how they do these but they somehow are packed with kale with out being doughy. Absolutely delicious especially paired with the halloumi it comes with.

Could do shout outs for every item but please try this place for...
