We have been regular visitors to Anna’s for over 2yrs. We had found it to be great value for money.. happy with the service for the most part and never really had to wait long. We are slight creatures of comfort ordering the same thing, noticing the occasional change in servery (oil or something added over the bread and poured on the avocado and some seasoning on the eggs - my go to is ‘eggs my way’, mine being poached with added avocado) this has not been consistent as when it first occurred asked if there was a difference cook in the kitchen as we mentioned the change, this was denied, last time, about 3 or 4 weeks ago we ordered the same thing (partners go to is the ‘big breakfast’) this most definitely came with baked beans and my usual didn’t have the seasoning and horrid oil (or whatever poured over it) however we visited yesterday yet the oils and seasoning were back and there were no baked beans on other plate. We understand price hikes.. we were happy for this as we found Anna’s very cheap but the fact they’ve taken away a menu item (we order taking an item off as it is) well after the menu change, honestly we’d not even looked at the menu change for the year as nothing on the plate had changed until yesterdays visit. We did look at the menu to check afterwards.. and it does state no beans with big breakfast for a change with 2025 menu BUT I can absolutely assure you that we have ordered this year, multiple times, with these included, and the oils aren’t a ‘regular’ thing. It’s definitely left a sour taste with us and we are hesitant to keep Anna’s as our go to place. I’d been very vocal about recommending this cafe also but sadly, I just don’t have the same zest...
Read moreFrom the instant you walk into Anna’s Café in Lara, there is the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a gracious and warm welcome from the owner Anna where everyone is greeted with a friendly hello and most by name such is the remarkable Anna’s memory. This amazing café combines country hospitality with an excellent cuisine prepared by Anna’s husband Ray and his pumpkin soup is second to none and also try the 3 stack pancakes – no one makes better. Notwithstanding the brilliance of the menu, I feel what genuinely sets Anna’s Café apart from so many others is the staff. Anna and her team go way beyond what is expected to make everyone who comes in feel like family. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, there’s a genuine friendliness that’s hard to find elsewhere or just manufacture. In this exceptional regional village of Lara, it is more than just a place to eat it’s like all good villages, it’s a place to catch up and share stories with friends of just read the newspaper. I would add that Anna truly is a remarkable person who shows a great love of the community in which she works and a genuine desire to make everyone feel welcome. For me a visit to Anna’s Café always leaves me smiling. Highly recommended!...
Read moreExceeded expectations! We just came down for a quick meeting and lunch. I was very pleased with the service. All the wait staff were helpful and friendly. The coffee really hit the spot. Perfect temp flavor and texture. It was really hard to make up my mind with so many great menu options but I settled on the Grilled Calamari.
I'm thrilled to say that this dish did not disappoint. The squid was fresh and well seasoned and the salad was delicious and complete with olives and capers! I would recommend giving Anna's a try if you haven't already.
I didn't get a great look at the atmosphere inside but I think a touch of mood lighting or decor would really elevate this...
