Second time here and got takeaway this time. I had the chicken katsu donburi ($16) and wifey the pork katsu curry ($16.80). Both were a good sized portion and had maximum flavour, so we're happy to order again in future.

My first visit was a few months ago with a colleague who's been telling me for some time now about this Japanese joint in Rochedale South that he's been to numerous times. Finally I managed a visit with him to check it out for myself. It's pretty popular for takeaways though I always prefer to dine in, so settled in for a feed.

Photos attached to this review are from both visits. More thoughts from visit 1 are below:

You wouldn't think a place like this has the best karaage... but I have to say it has probably the best karaage chicken I can recall eating in recent memory, and we only really ordered that as a bit of an afterthought 😅 These nicely fried chunks of chicken were large and partially pre-cut into quarters for easier handling/eating. Will definitely get again.

Everything else was pretty decent and has the makings for some good value casual eats. Their sushi rolls are made fresh to order and whilst he didn't mind the one we chose this time, my colleague says other flavours are better.

Overall I left satisfied with this ~$25/head meal and will mark it for a revisit. I think it's already a local favourite but if it's not already there you should put it on your radar 📡

Our order: Angry crab roll, $14.90 - soft shell crab, lobster salad, lettuce and cucumber inside/fish egg Katsudon, $15 - choice of chicken or pork Yakitori, $8.50 - 2pc chicken skewer Karaage, $9 - 4pc marinated deep fried...

After hearing good things about Natsumi Sushi, I finally had the time to visit. It is a small restaurant but has outdoor seating. It was a lot of seats available and most customers ordered takeaway.

You can either order at the counter or by scanning the QR code at the table. I did the latter for convenience. For a bag, it costs $30c.

From the time I ordered to receiving my food, it took around 5-10min when the website said 15min so pretty quick.

Starting with 4pcs of Aburi Salmon & Regular Prawn Nigiri, they were good and fresh but it was something about the texture of the Salmon that was odd but not in a bad way.

I finished with 6pcs of Takoyaki and 4pcs of Ebi fried Nigiri with Mayo sauce. As every Takoyaki I had, it's hot and will burn the tongue and the Ebi was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The rice was too soft for my liking.

I was impressed by the presentation, especially the plates and the restaurant felt cozy and calm.

Overall, the food was good but for the price, it's expensive. Can see myself coming back but not...

Addiction doesn't quite suffice.

This sweet and cosy pocket sushi joint houses some of the freshest, most skilfully made sushi I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It became part of my daily routine. I dont live in the area anymore unfortunately. So I will be taking a 40 minute drive atleast once a week to still enjoy this exquisite & rare experience.

I highly recommend this restaurant for a sweet little dinner with your partner, friends or family.

The Chicken katsu & Chicken Avo sushi is the restaurants most devine option. From what I'm aware, they do not use MSG & have organic processing.

10/10 - for flavour. 8/10- Atmosphere ( Dine in option available ) 10/10 -...

Fresh and made to order. Because of this, it can take a while. Be prepared to wait a bit. “Special Rolls” are the item to get. 😊9/10. Dragon Roll - Eel. $19.50. Decent amount of eel. Smoky. Fresh. 🥰8.5/10. Twin Prawn Roll. The avo is so creamy. Freshly fried tempura prawns and boiled prawns. Wasabi is packet / horseradish. Not actual wasabi. Non-sushi dishes aren’t memorable. Come here for the sushi only. The servers only bring the dishes to your table. Everything else you have to help yourself to (water, extra dishes and sauce bowls etc). Indoor and outdoor seating available. Cozy indoor environment.
