Cons:
Upon arrival, had to walk around a staff member who was on her hands and knees scrubbing the main entrance tiles. She was there for our entire stay.
Ordered Roast Salmon Rosti but was told they were out of salmon.
Therefore ordered Zucchini & Corn Fritters only to be told they were also out of fritters.
Ordered an Island Dream smoothie only to be told they were also out of coconut cream (or coconut water). They opted to make it with alternate ingredients but it ended up tasting like watered-down cheap fruit juice.
** The ingredients shortage was so bad that the girl at the counter literally scanned an 'out of stock' list every time we ordered.
Third time lucky, ordered the Brunch Bowl and succeeded (my wife ordered the same).
The Brunch Bowls arrived and were very salty, possibly because of the dukkah, or otherwise a heavy-handed staff member.
Although trading until 3pm, the staff started packing up beside us around 2pm, building a wall of tables and umbrellas. Not the most relaxing environment for us and certain to deter any potential last-minute customers.
Decided to grab some pastries to end the meal but noticed one cabinet had 6+ flies sitting all over the food. We therefore selected from a different cabinet that was fly-free.
Pros:
We ordered a flat white and chai latte, both of which were pretty good.
The sweet potato fries, ordered as a side, were well-seasoned and tasty.
Both pastries selected were good: my almond & lemon cake was excellent and my wife enjoyed her Snickers Cookie Dough cookie.
The staff members were friendly and efficient.
The venue itself is light, airy and has a good atmosphere.
Overall, this business has potential but is hindered by some significant flaws, to the extent that we are unlikely to return.

Read moreLaneway Green is the kind of café that makes you wonder if you’ve accidentally walked onto a lifestyle blogger’s Instagram feed. The aesthetic is on point—clean, leafy, and painfully photogenic. Fortunately, the food and coffee back up the vibes, which is refreshing in a world where some cafés think a fiddle-leaf fig can compensate for burnt espresso.
The coffee is consistently excellent (and yes, they know what a proper flat white is), and the menu has that “I’m healthy but still want to enjoy my life” balance. Lots of fresh, modern options—think smashed avo that actually tastes like someone cared, and breakfast bowls that don’t look like they were thrown together in a blender accident.
Shout-out to Chris, the owner, who clearly runs the place with a rare combo of obsessive attention to detail and chill surfer energy. You’ll often see him buzzing around, checking in on customers or making sure everything’s running smoothly without ever seeming stressed—a minor miracle in hospitality.
Staff are friendly without trying to start a podcast with you, and service is quick even when it’s busy, which it often is. A solid spot for brunch, a casual meeting, or pretending you’re working on your novel while you...
Read moreI dont even know where to begin. I guess today was my last visit to this Cafe and for several reasons. The first reason was the quality of the new staff members. They looked untidy, unhappy and unprofessional. The old staff were very friendly and also attractive. This place used to be my go to for a bacon and egg muffin and coffee regularly. The woman making coffee today put her hair in a bun and continued making coffee and handling food without washing her hands. The bacon and egg muffin is terrible now and so is the coffee. The egg was so hard I nearly choked on it and it was swimming in bbq sauce and cold in the middle, the coffee was bitter and too cold. I don't know what happened to the old staff but all I can say is it looks like the ownership has changed or they were challenged for not being woke enough. It's sad, this cafe used to be busy as before and now it's dead and I believe it's because of the changes you made. The new staff don't even wear the cool little uniforms like before. Terrible service and terrible food equals new Cafe for me and my friends. Good luck for the future...
