June 2023: Service: very friendly and non intrusive. We ate there on Kings' birthday long weekend, so many staff had been shipped down from Sydney, luckily to cope with the crowds. Atmosphere: reminds me of eating in Italian restaurants of the 1980s, so a little odd, but it works well. Went there as a couple, but we got put with families with young kids on three sides, which was strange and disappointing. We'd prefer to be sat away from young kids. Food: bread as a starter was delicious served with octopus and peppers, both of which were great. Main dishes of pork schnitzel (crunchy and huge) and XO sauce prawns with procuitto. Prawn dish had no procuitto, so that was false advertising and had too much XO sauce, so I would not recommend it. Broccolini was tasty, and duck fat potatoes were great, but there were too many to get through for two people. It's a shame that the steaks cost a minimum of $129 for 800gm. It would be good if there was an affordable steak on the menu in the $40-$50 range. Too full to order dessert, but we saw a tiramisu and some of the gelato dishes, both of which looked great. Next time: fewer starters and mains to save room for dessert. Overall, room for improvement but a nice night out. Very busy place! January 2024: All food was amazing. Learnt from our mistakes the first time and did not order potatoes! Pork schnitzel still great and lamb ragu parpadelle was delicious served with a side of the broccolini. The bread with the peppers and octopus was very nice, though the octopus was a little tough Will definitely return. July 2024: Our waitress seemed too busy a lot of the time taking to other tables to serve us and take our drinks order so the entree came and I had to demand that she being our wine ASAP which was a bit frustrating. Other than the waitress the food was great as always but the starter of zucchini was a bit underwhelming and would be better served as Grilled. The broccoli and walnut pasta was fantastic. The pork cotoletta amazing as always and served with the radicchio and persimmon salad, it was perfect 👌. September 2024: Another great experience. Dishes all very large. Could barely finish the meal. Will order less next time.

Since their opening in March, I've visited three times and honestly, each visit was completely worth the drive, not just for the food but also for the time spent getting there. The Lorne restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating so getting a reservation isn't too hard, but they do fill up pretty quickly. I love it here! The food is amazing, the service is top-notch, and that view – seriously breathtaking. Of all the times I've eaten here, I've always over ordered. The usual routine goes like this - we start with our must-have wood-fired bread, along with a handful of antipasti items - burrata, prosciutto, tomatoes, parfait, kingfish, and of course, our main courses and drinks. But then, right in the midst of the bomb af antipasti, the extra bread, extra burrata, extra prosciutto orders kick in.. And then comes the next batch of carbs.. the pastas. My top favourite has got to be that addictive chili alla vodka prawn reginette. At this point, we're pretty content to call it a meal, but then the main courses arrive and everything looks and tastes so fkn good. I've tried more than half of the mains on their menu, and you can't really make a wrong choice - whether it's the wood-roasted fish, roasted king prawns, or Angus rib eye - all so yum! Although, none of the sides I've had at Lorne has been as memorable as the cabbage salad I had at Bar Tottis in Sydney. Of the three times I've been to the Lorne Tottis, I only had dessert once, and that was only because we had to get the set menu to cater for a large group (which btw is great value). The dessert of the night happened to tiramisu and similar to my review of Bar Tottis, it's not my fav. The first couple of spoons are good, but the nuttiness starts to get a bit overwhelming. Starting to question how I've managed to visit Tottis like 6 times and the only dessert I've had is their tiramisu..

Service: 10/10 The service at this restaurant was impeccable. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and received excellent recommendations throughout the evening. The staff's attentiveness and kindness truly enhanced our dining experience. Atmosphere: Elegant, Classy, and Inviting The ambiance of the bar was sophisticated and welcoming. With its elegant decor and lively atmosphere, it set the stage for a memorable evening of dining and conversation. Food: A Culinary Delight Prosciutto: The prosciutto was expertly sliced and packed with flavor. Its perfect balance of saltiness and richness made it a standout appetizer. Kingfish Sashimi: The kingfish sashimi was fresh and flavorful, with a delightful combination of lemon acidity and fruity notes. Bread: The freshly baked bread was a treat, served hot with a generous drizzle of olive oil and just the right amount of salt. It was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Burrata: The burrata was creamy and delicious, with a velvety texture that melted in the mouth. Paired with a flavorful olive oil, it was a true indulgence. Chicken Liver Parfait: While the chicken liver parfait had a strong flavor that may not be for everyone, it was certainly an interesting and unique dish. Its bold flavor profile left a lasting impression. Parpadelle: The parpadelle was a departure from traditional pasta dishes, with a sweet and savory flavor profile that was both surprising and delicious. The tender meat and perfectly cooked pasta made it a standout dish. Overall, our dining experience was exceptional. The combination of outstanding service, inviting atmosphere, and memorable flavors made for a truly unforgettable evening.

TLDR: Bad food, bad service (except one lovely waitress), watch out for hidden charges. Food wise, the oven baked bread was pretty good, the sides of octopus, burrata and mushrooms complimented it perfectly. However, I’ve never had bad bread, so no stars for this. Pasta was a series of unfortunate events, skip it completely, and head to your nearest Coles Express for a better experience. However, the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, one star for that. 1/5 for food. Service was a hit and miss. We had a really pleasant time with a waitress, who went above and beyond in fixing our day for us. However, it felt that the rest of the staff were insulted that I dare patronise their grandeur establishment. 5/5 for the lovely waitress (sorry I didn’t get your name), -1/5 for the rest of the staff , 2/5 in total. I thought that I was pretty well behaved, no loud noises, no disturbing the peace, was quietly seated the whole 90 minutes I was there. The hostility was puzzling, and left a blemish on my stay in Victoria. One last thing, I feel that it’s common practice to offer tap water on default, and only mineral when asked. When ordered ‘still’ or ‘sparkling’, imagine my surprise when the ‘still’ was chargeable at 15 buckaroos a pop. Here’s the kicker: the mineral water wasn’t even a choice in the menu. 5/5 in scummy pricing practices. I would advise you to continue driving on the great ocean road, and give this place a miss.

Overall, we enjoyed our feast at Tottis. Positives: - so many delicious options on the menu (we over-ordered but took home leftovers) - all the dishes were tasty, generous, and fresh (wood fire bread, burrata, tomatoes, cucumber, steak, potatoes, and vodka prawn pasta) - open kitchen, vibe, decor, view of the ocean - leisurely pace of meals Negatives: - whilst our waiter was pleasant, we felt let down by the service. We had to ask for drinks each time (and check if they were coming after a long wait / ask other staff) and never had our water topped up. The waiter also never asked how our meals were or engaged in small talk and the different staff that dropped the meals off, did so in a hurry and didn't explain them (eg the sides with the meat). - none of the dishes had that "lick your plate/wow/ let's talk about it" factor. Eg. The steak, whilst nice enough, was especially disappointing considering the price ($110+) - expensive! (eg sides with the bread, the steak) - very crowded main room, difficult to get between tables. Multiple times I saw patrons moving their tables for other groups so they could navigate the dining room. It made me think that Tottis seems like a money-making machine and is lacking passion/naunce to warrant the price tag of it's food and quality of its service. Visit Fugazzi in Adelaide or MortaDeli in Torquay if you want an authentic Italian foodie experience.

I came here with my partner for dinner around more than a month ago. It was about 8pm when we went here and it was packed with people. We did not make a booking so I didn’t expect for us to get a table but the lady who greeted us said we could sit on stools around the counter beside the big window which we did as I was really keen to try it there. The lady was not too friendly or warm. When we got to our table I looked around and there was about 2 vacant tables further inside the restaurant. I observed if they were going to be taken while we dined there but they did not so I guess they weren’t reserved but they didn’t even ask us if we wanted to move. Me and my partner found the food average. The presentation was excellent but the taste was average compared to the price. The drink I ordered tasted great. See photos of what we ordered below. The ambience was excellent. There was staff making the bread fresh from the clay oven which you could watch. Overall the place was romantic and felt sophisticated. The service from the wait staff was excellent. There 2 wait staff who served us and they were both friendly and warm and was down for a short chat. Overall I wouldn’t say that we would go back to this restaurant or will recommend it but it was a quite pleasurable experience for that night.
