Ambassador Hotel Mackay — Restaurant in Mackay

I've given it 5 stars not because it's a five star hotel but because I love the place. Love that it's old. Places like this are constantly needing to be renovated and they seem to be in the process of repainting. It's very clean even down to the pot plants which seem to have new soil and wood chips. Floors, kitchen, toilets, rooms... All spotless which comes down to professional management and staff. They are very friendly as well which is what you want if your staying somewhere for awhile. The residents seem pretty polite and friendly too. There is also a niteclub here too so might see in the new year here...

Went here to try the rooftop bar, was pretty disappointed. Have to walk up 2 flights of narrow stairs to get too it. Drinks were overpriced and barstaff boasted being able to make the best cocktails in Mackay. Ordered a long Island iced tea, one of the worst I've ever had. Couldn't even finish it, it was that bad. Music was too loud so you had to basically yell to have a conversation. Caters to a younger crowd....

Absolute joke. Do not. DO NOT. Agree to the bar tab. You will be told that you will get double the amount you pay. We paid $100. And then were told 1 hour later that the bar tab was gone. The manger said that it was a register error and gave use back $20. Out of our $200 bar tab. What a joke. Do not go there. There are so many better places in Mackay. Do not let this...
