Nice little family run pub. Came here twice. Once for my birthday with my fam and another with my mate.
Came for the steak special on Thursday for $26. Steak was cooked perfect medium rare. Was on the thinner side but it was made up for how large it was in diameter. It came with a side if chips which were nicely seasoned and a dressed salad which was tasty.
The steak came with 3 sauce options. Gravy, peppercorn and mushroom. I had the peppercorn, whilst i am huge fan of pepper. The pepper was too potent in the sauce and overpowered what ever it had touched. I shared the sauce around the table and everyone else agreed the pepper was overpowering. My partner had the mushroom gravy which was a lot nicer than the pepper.
The second visit i had the chicken parma. Same sides as the steak, chips and salad. Both of which were delicious. The parma was thick and came with slice of ham which is was welcomed. Overall it was tasty classic pub parma.
I would come again for the steak. I also had a try of my nieces gnocci which was quite delicious. We also had the calamari which was light, crispy and tender.
In conclusion this is a nice venue to grab a feed and to catch up with a mate as it is not quite loud and busy...
Read moreThis particular establishment was recommended to me by a friend. He has since lost all credibility. I met him here recently on a mid week venture. We both felt parched from the tedium of our work week and collectively decided that this bar was logistically agreeable. Upon entering, I found myself rather perplexed. I couldn't decide if it was a bar or a restaurant, I don't think the venue was sure either. Consequently, it hasn't successfully achieved either. It is one long room, upon entering, it leaves you feeling on display. Ironically, it also feels a bit like a display home. The aesthetics feel a bit like a portion of Ikea. It has cheap, domestic themed table and chairs, the type a young couple would buy for their first home. It really brings nothing to the table. It's like drinking in an office or something. I've felt more character in a government building.
We left after a pint, bought polish beer from the iga and drank them in a...
Read moreI have lived in Maidstone for 10 years and had not realized that there was this gem of a restaurant just a 5-10 minute walk away. The restaurant was lively, with friendly staff and an abundance of regulars. The beer garden was a nice space and would be a lovely spot for summertime beverages. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the squid ink seafood pasta can rival the best, including Tipo 00’s in the city. The new cocktails were amazing; my favorite one is the Spicy Margarita. Definitely worth another trip to try their famous Chicken Parmas. Everything on the menu appeared delicious. Great pricing on both food and drinks. Certainly the new destination on Barkly Street, if not the whole...
