Nestled in Melbourne's vibrant food scene, Saigon Desserts is a Vietnamese dessert haven that promises a sweet escape from the ordinary. Think of it as a sugar-laden adventure where you never quite know what delightful weirdness you're going to get.

Our visit was a bit of a textural rollercoaster, primarily because we inadvertently ordered a selection of chè that all seemed to have the same bouncy, chewy consistency. For the uninitiated, chè are traditional Vietnamese sweet soups or puddings made with an array of ingredients like beans, jellies, and coconut cream. Picture it: bowls of mysterious, squishy delights that could either be the best thing you've ever tasted or a surprise party for your taste buds.

Despite our rookie mistake of ordering a chewy overload, there was something undeniably charming about Saigon Desserts. The flavors, though texturally monotonous, were rich and authentic, giving us a sweet peek into Vietnamese culinary traditions. Each bowl of chè felt like a little adventure, though admittedly, some were more Indiana Jones and others were more like a quiet stroll in the park.

The staff, probably used to wide-eyed newcomers like us, were friendly and helpful, even as we navigated our chewy conundrum. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the kind of place where you feel comfortable making a mess as you dig into your dessert.

Will we go back? Absolutely. Next time, armed with a bit more knowledge and a sense of humor, we’re determined to uncover the full spectrum of textures and flavors that Saigon Desserts has to offer. Because if there’s one thing we learned, it’s that chè is as diverse and delightful as it is unpredictable.

In short, Saigon Desserts is a lovely spot for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Vietnamese sweets. Even if your first attempt is a textural misadventure, it’s well worth a return trip. After all, isn’t life just one big, chewy...

My bestie ordered the takeaway for me to try that time, it was very delicious yummy, not too sweet not too pain and just right for my swwet tooth. So I decided to go there to have a look.

It was beautiful little store which located at a family oriented based neighborhood. Its good for family or catching up with some friends for a dessert or a simple snacks place to relax to get to know each others.

I was impressed by the young coconut meats and the green tea caramel cream. So dessert. Staffs are very helpful and knowledgeable about the their menu. Of course i love the self serve chill water station and the dessert bar. Very unusual and special. Overall i love the decoration and set up of the restaurant its very welcoming and modern authentic Vietnamese decor with Aussie twist.

I highly recommend this place for all the Vietnamese who miss their own desserts of snacks or the neighborhood in the west side. Thank you Saigon desserts and...

Quite a popular place for desserts in the west. Getting very busy at night especially Friday night or weekend.

Good selection of Vietnamese desserts, drinks and street food. Quality and taste are average, not something special. The place is quite small, only couple of tables so they arrange the tables quite close to each other and it can be a long queue during busy night. We went here couple of times, waited for around half an hour for the table.

Its worth noting that it can taste sour with whatever desserts contain rainbow jelly according to the staff. We ordered coconut coffee dessert and it tasted sour, a bit weird. We asked the staff and she said that the sourness comes from the rainbow jelly!

You can check the menu out from my photos

Overall, its an alright place for catching up with friends. You can try out if you just need a place to gather and...
