This cute little restaurant in Williamstown was just what we needed after a crazy week at work. We got here on a Saturday night (13/09/25). The lovely staff welcomed us to a cozy little corner - there was no wait at all! They clarified how large the portions were going to be, what sauces were offered, and wrote all our preferences down. The food and drinks were served promptly, and the dessert just after our meal. 🇹🇭
The garlic roti with satay sauce was an amazing appetiser. The seafood in our tom yum soup was fresh, and just warm enough to be enjoyed right after serving. The larb gai was a perfect mix of spicy, sour, and savoury, with peanuts, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber slices on a bed of greens - so healthy! The thai lemon iced tea was rich and sweet. 🍋 However, the lemongrass chicken, the coffee, and the sticky rice pudding were definitely the standouts. The chicken was soft and nicely grilled, paired with a savoury sauce. The coffee was Melburnian. 🇦🇺 'Nuff said. ☕️ And the sticky rice pudding - a melodious mix of gelatinous black rice, almonds, sliced strawberry, and vanilla ice cream! 😋
Some Thai places in Melbourne's CBD have been too spicy for me, sometimes to the point of me not tasting anything 😩 A Day in BKK strikes the perfect balance between the Aussie and...
Read moreWe ordered Uber Eats...never really use it because it's generally a bad experience but this was special. We ordered Prawn Tom Yum for nearly $20. This soup came in a entree size container with 3 little frozen prawns for good measure, I wish I had taken a photo. I have written 2 feedback complaints to no avail. Way to lose a customer. We are regulars at the restaurant, cannot complain about the 'dining in' experience and on occasion I just order their coconut rice and pick it up because we make our own curry pastes from scratch but this has been the third or fourth time we have had lousy takeaway experiences from this restaurant. Two other times it was the curries, both were super sweet green and massaman curries. Not sure why they can't nail the takeaway not a bad place to dine in and good service. Slim pickings as is in...
Read moreI’m very surprised at the number of 5 star reviews for this place. It did not live up to that.
Let me start with the good. Restaurant was clean and the team were friendly, food had flavour but this is far from traditional Thai food. It’s very much catered to the local pallet. As for the bad, while the team were nice and friendly, they were far from efficient, order was taken promptly but food was a bit of a wait and a dish was missed. We waited patiently and it never came out. We raised it with them and were told 3 mins but the wait continued. 10 mins later the dish appeared and was incorrect. We ate it, paid and left.
This place is a solid 3 stars if you want Aussie style Thai food. But if you are looking for something to take you back to your backpacking days in Bangkok then...
