It's funny to see all the different reviews here. Maybe they have some bad days or are short staffed sometimes? I noticed the business was up for sale but Alf and his offsider remain friendly and efficient. The food was delicious, and you can tell the cakes are home made. The coffee, while different - not as milky as usual - I thought was pretty good. I am not a regular but I have been several times over a few years and I find this place consistently welcoming. I thought they are possibly the most hospitable team I've come across down on the Peninsula. Maybe I have just had them on their good days, but I love going there and I will be very sad when they move on. Update October 2023: The old owners have moved on and I have visited a couple of times since the new team took over. The staff are much younger but equally welcoming and efficient, and the food and coffee are also great. Sitting in the sunshine, looking out onto the beach and sipping a coffee while you eat a home made banana date muffin - not a bad way to spend some time on a...

What a lovely cafe. We received a very pleasant greeting on entry. There were quite a few people inside here on a dull rainy day. No brave souls outside in the air either. It really is a cute bright little cafe with good indoor and outdoor seating. You can even get the odd glimpses of the marina and the bay. Full marks for the clever retro playlist they had on here too. A beauty.

We enjoyed our coffees. They’re at the more expensive end but no matter as the quality was there. It’s full on Aussie but we had to have toast and vegemite too. They use very good sourdough here. It was delicious. And, critically, we were given a good amount of vegemite. The food on display in the fridge food looked really good. Huge sausage rolls. The meals and snacks on the menu looked most enticing as well. The cakes looked terrific too. We said as much to the lovely owner/manager as we left. His happy comment was a classic. It’s all home made he confirmed and ā€œ... if you want mass produced, go down the...

I really wanted to love this cafe. It looks beautiful and the view is beautiful.

I had a Hot Chocolate which came with a mini Caramel Slice. The Caramel slice was heaven, the Hot Chocolate itself was warm and a 1/4 of the cup was just Foam itself ( see photo)

Everything took about 20 mins to come out which isn’t bad for two people for breakfast. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict and said the sauce tasted like Horse Radish which was smeared on the side of the plate for decoration and not on the eggs in true hollandaise style.

I had the veggie breakfast and not a lot was cooked. I couldn’t understand why we waited when the mushrooms were raw, the spinach was a mouthful of salt. I couldn’t eat it. The hashbrowns were squished down Woolies style hashbrowns and the toast wasn’t anything special it was just thin.

The staff were lovely, I feel like the chef really lets the place down because everything looks beautiful but the food just isn’t the nicest for me personally.

The mini slice on the side is...

I was instantly greeted with friendly customer service when I entered the cafe, I loved the atmosphere and I soon noticed all the cute Friends references. Even the toilets doors are painted purple with the yellow frame like Monica & Rachel’s front door. I LOVED my ice-latte and being from Melbourne I’m pretty particular… further to my surprise the iced-latte was canned, it was so cool as I was able to shake it before opening. I’ll be sure to visit this lovely cafe on my next visit to Rye. Side street parking was also convenient.
