Not worth $40 and a 30min wait for 2 coffees and 2 servings of loukoumades. The attendant said there was a 10minute wait for donuts and the coffees would be quicker than that. This lead to us deciding to stay and drink our coffees while we waited for the donuts. While we waited, they played awful club music (on a Sunday morning) outside that was so loud we had to move around the corner, away from the speakers. The coffees took 20mins even though there were only 2-3 customers in the cafe. They didn’t taste very good (my flat white was 50% foam). When I collected the coffees the attendant told me the donuts were ready and would be 2 mins, they were just putting on the toppings. 10 mins later, the donuts were ready. There was no urgency, no apology, and no acknowledgement or “thank you for waiting”… Then, when we finally tasted them, the toppings were good but the dough was raw in the middle. Plus, there were no water bowls for dogs out the front. I would not recommend.

As me and my partner were driving home from woolworths we drove past this place. The smell of fresh Greek donuts made us turn the car around. And oh boy am I glad! From the moment I walked in, the beautiful Greek music, the home made jams and Greek deserts, the warm smile of the staff and the recommendations. I ordered half pistachio half jam donuts plus the orange cake takeaway. I must say I know my flavours and I knew it was going to be good. But noone prepared me for this. The donuts were cooked to perfection how can they be so crispy yet so soft?? When you bite into the donut it takes you to a different dimension. The milk chocolate drizzle and pistachio glaze took me to cloud 9. How can it be? A simple Greek desert that made me happy like no worries ever mattered. A must when you're in Rye. Any other donut cannot compare. Thank you!

When it comes to loukoumades, I have high expectations. So when I saw this beautiful store stand out as driving past, I had to try. The loukoumades were freshly made to order, hot, and delicious. The staff were friendly, and the store itself was spacious and nice. The smoothie options were nice. I would only suggest allowing smaller portions, as the 12 minimum for one person is a lot and can make a person think twice. I also understand the effort to make them fresh to order might inconvenience a smaller portion. And I also can't justify the extra $2 to make it half half flavours when there is no extra effort required to halve the toppings as the base is the same. Thanks for the perfect loukoumades.

The Hive is my favourite place here in Rye. ( I live here and work from home). I confess I go there almost daily, although they focus on the weekend and each side of the weekend with a couple of days off mid week. I usually have a coffee (very very good), or a fruit smoothy (awesome) and every now and then will have some Loukoumades (incredible) or an Ice Cream ( also great) . I think when they first opened I was immediately drawn in by the architecture. Open, modern, very clean, sleek and beautifully designed. The coffee and Loukoumades are really first rate, but the people are wonderful. Friendly, conversational, dynamic, wonderful people. The Greek Loukoumades are very very fresh and made on the spot, so it is best to bear that in mind, that it will take a couple of minutes, so breathe in and breathe out, and savour the anticipation of something done really really well. I also recommend this location if you would like to buy a nice gift for someone and you are looking for something a bit unusual, or a little exotic. They have a nice supply of Greek Honey varieties, jams, marmalades, snacks and small gifts, a bit like a mini holiday to the Mediterranean without having to go further than Rye. Rye is lucky to have a location like this and I...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I needed a birthday cake over the weekend! Being from Melbourne was unsure if I could even get one in Rye! Saw The Hive Loukoumades, and thought I’d take my chances! Mind you I went at about 5pm hoping I could order a cake for my pregnant daughter for the next day and her favourite sweet was a galaktobouriko so I went in hopeful and met the Owners Rosie and Leo! Asked them if this was possible and they said of course but need some notice. I said I needed it for the next day. Rosa was thrown back but when I explained it was for my 8 month pregnant daughter’s birthday , Rosa and Leo said they could do it for her without hesitation and with a huge smile ! I have never experienced such obliging and amazing customer service! And all with a smile ! Rosie and Leo said it would be ready at 10am the next day. And it definitely was and still warm . Not to mention how amazing it tasted and how super fresh it was. Highly recommend this amazing business , Rosie and Leo are such amazing people and if could give you 10 stars 🌟 I would ! Thank you guys ever so much...
