Absolutely appalling service. We ordered six pizzas as take away. When we placed the order over the phone we were told that it would be an hour before they were ready, which we were fine with. Arrived at the restaurant to pick up our order at the time they said - was promptly served at the inside counter by one of the waiters who processed my payment- clearly happy to secure their money very quickly. Was then given my receipt and asked to check with the kitchen if the pizza was ready! I had to que up behind other customers who were weaved amongst the people who were dining in (how horrible to have people stand around you waiting to pick up their pizza while you eat). There were two disgruntled customers ahead of me as their take away orders were delayed and in one case not even processed as they couldn’t find the order. We were then hearded out of the restaurant after being told by the manager that my pizza would be ready in 10mins - this women is clearly unable to understand the concept of time as after 15 minutes when I checked in with the waitress at the outside counter I was told my pizza was another 15 minutes away!!! She then went in and had a chat to the manager who came out and advised me that they were really busy and that she was sorry but my pizza would be 12 minutes away ( very precise) - offered us gelato or coffee ? I said that I didn’t want either and wanted something taken off my bill- she agreed to 10% - I wasn’t happy with that but given I was on holiday, had to real appetite to put up a further fight. After a further 15 minutes I was told that my pizza had just gone in the oven... it took another 15 minutes before our Order was ready. I was not the only person in this situation there were people waiting for over 1.5 hours for their orders to be ready. The system they have is clearly not working and if I was the owner I would be embrassed by how badly the Manager was handling the situation- unless of course she owns the restaurant as well -which would be terrible - she left a poor waitress to deal with all the upset customers while she served the dine in customers in side- isn’t it a managers/owners job to deal with a crisis and try and build understanding with her customers and keep those that have had a bad customer experience happy ?? Clearly she had no idea and should not be managing a restaurant as things were nothing but chaotic and completely mismanaged- shameful! Would not recommend ordering take way fro here!! If that manager also owns the restaurant as other comments suggest she needs to hire a professional to...
Read moreThere's always been a pizza place here, but the new owners have really spruced this place up. It still doesn't look much from the outside, but the inside is warm and inviting. This is a place the locals love. We dined as a couple on Monday night in the off-off season, and there was still a fair collection of diners filling the tables.
The staff here are lovely, friendly, helpful people. We arrived right at the closing time of the kitchen, but they were happy to stay open and offer us the full menu. There's a good range of pizza, pasta, and main dishes here, and all tastes are catered for.
They're licensed, and have a nice range of wines. We enjoyed an excellent local chardonnay, and what was extra pleasing was that our lovely waitress allowed us to taste from three bottles before deciding which to buy! How's that for service?
The food is great. Generous serves of well made Italian food. My gnocchi was excellent; light and delicate, in a tasty sauce. It was made in-house, and it shows. My accompanying small seafood pizza needed a bit of spice, but that's my fault--I should've asked for fresh chilli. My wife's chicken saltimbocca was great, and our accompanying side salad could not be faulted. The sticky date pudding to finish was as good as you'll get.
This is a great little place run by some very nice people. It really deserves to succeed, and I really hope it does. There's a lot of turnover in places at Rye; I hope this place is able to...
Read moreDate night ruined. First we were seated right in the walkway of people picking up their take away, standing right next to us waiting while we were trying to eat, the girls could see this and made no effort to fix it. Entree the calamari was terrible, it was all leftover crumby bits from the deep fryer, my wife commented the kids would love this, my 2 coronas were not even room temp but warm, I ordered for main the lasagne with a side serve of salad, my wife ordered the pumpkin cannelloni both meals were only just warm and by the time we were half way through it they were cold, tasteless and the salad was a load of over oiled and vinegared lettuce, 2 wedges of unruled tomato and a lot of red onion, inedible, my wife mad me leave first so I didn’t cause a scene, sorry ladies I so wanted this to be a beautiful Italian restaurant but unfortunately it failed miserably, if ever you’re in Hobart visit an Italian restaurant in battery point called Da Angelo, this is a restaurant that takes dinner bookings 7 days a week til 11.30pm and is constantly crazy busy and they don’t put...
