Wondering why I gave one star when food, service and atmosphere got 4 stars?
The answer is simple;
Bakers Delight are up to the same tricks that Cadbury Chocolate started a few years back and have gotten away with it.
They reduce the size of their products and charge the same amount or even increase the cost.
It's a double hit to the bottom line in a positive way. Using less product thereby reducing costs and increasing the sale price, increasing revenue.
The management thought it might go un-noticed however some keen minds have been watching.
The difference between two outlets 75 KMS apart is about 20% in size.
You do the maths, 20% less product used and within the last year a nice price increase.
Sure there have been cost rises but come on the evidence is damning, don't you think.
Btw I will continue to buy Bakers Delight bread (as I continue to buy Cadbury Chocolate), it is better for me, health wise, no preservatives and it is baked daily.
There is no issue with the quality of the food, service or atmosphere, it's the slide of hand that I'm not happy with.
If any else has noticed the smaller loaves of bread please post a review so that Bakers Delight can rectify this...
   Read moreAfter finding (through biting into it) a pice of grit in my date scone, I thought I would let BD know.
Call answered by a person for whom English was not their first language who confirmed "You had a brick in your roll".
Gave up trying to get through to them and be understood and called head office to be advised that BD call centre operations were based offshore. Great to know a portion of my purchases are going offshore....
I call Customer Service to get "Customer Service", not to have to repeat myself ad nauseum to someone who has little grasp on the language spoken in the country his calls come from and his employers speak.
I then got a call from a Supervisor who, despite English also not being their first language, assured me they could escalate the issue for me.
Sorry, if BD are happy to sell out Australian workers by sending their call centre off shore, then I am happy to let them keep serving grit and whatever other surprises they may offer in their products to their detriment.
Good luck...
   Read moreI Like the local franchise and its staff, very nice people. Yesterday they told me the blueberry danish I have bought every day on my way to work for the last 3 years has been changed by head office, the new Danish is terrible, It has much less filling, its all pastry and of a lower quality. No longer like a Croissant with a good filling ratio. The staff are not happy that like me, many customers have complained. It isn't their fault, they want to keep making the danish the way they have always made them. They are embarrassed by the new offering they are being forced to produce. Long story short, I gave it a chance everyday this week, then in frustration I went to the competition bakery in the same shopping center, and I will now go there for my breakfast danish to from now on. I will probably buy their bread as well. Bakers delight's business model seems broken, they don't listen to their most valuable assets, the franchise store owner who is face to face with...
