The food here is great. Service passable (seemed like new staff on the scene) and I am happy for them to learn on job like most of us. The attitude of the manager "over the top" and arrogant.
Only if awards were judged by attitude then this place will not be a finalist.
We had a wonderful evening while eating. I oredered a take away vegetarian Biryani. The biryani was sent out in a pot while we were eating our desserts. I advised the staff nicely to please pack it for us as per my original request. The staff complied nicely.
The night went downhill from the moment I went to pay for the night. The manager was more worried out whether I knew about their finalist status or not. Kept on asking me questions on whether I knew about the award and why I chose their restaurnat. I had to make it clear to him that only award I care about is whether my family enjoyed the food and I confirmed to him that we all loved the food.
Once reaching home, I open the Biryani box and it has chunks of meat in it. From the looks of it, it might be a lamb biryani or chicken biryani. I threw it out in the garbage bin. I called the restaurant to advise the same. I did not ask for refund or a re-delivery as I live 45 minutes drive from the restaurant and it was already 10:30 pm.
At this point, instead of showing humility, the manager's response was let me check you bill, after fondling on the system for a few minutes, he confirms it was vegetable biryani in the order. The tone adopted by the manager lacked humility. His response was where do you live and when I advised him the distance, he responded, you are too far, I cannot deliver it now. I will give you discount next time. He hung up on me after that.
After a couple of minutes, he calls me back and demands I provide him a photo as they believe they haven't done any mistake in my order. I keep my cool somehow and advise him, the Biryani is in garbage bin outside. His response was "How hard it is to go outside, take it out and take a photo. My chef tells me, he made correct order". When I tried to respond to him and at this point, I was upset and agitated as I had no lunch for my two daughters for next day. He decides to hang up.
All in all, good food but...
Read moreI was visiting my family in Australia, and when the question came which is the best Indian restaurant here everyone here pointed towards Banyan tree. I was excited to try this. We ordered Mixed tandoori platter, 8 piece Sheik kabab(lamb), cheese naan, keema naan and chilli paneer naan. All had decent quantities and I will recommend the keema naan and sheik kebabs, it was so fresh that it made me feel it was prepared in house...The chilli paneer naan was spicy to the level Indians would love it.(after all this is a proper Indian restaurant..
The Bad experience I had here was when I ordered a Mutton Biriyani(this one let me down). This one came with an egg, Again when you think of the origin of Biriyanis not every Biriyani comes with a boil egg, I was impressed with the presentation. Taste wise I would give a 1/5 rating and that 1 is for presentation. The rice was dry with less masala, meat was overcooked(if you can think about a state double of well done) which made the whole dish dry. The Mutton was frozen and cooked( not fresh), It was overall dry and humid. I spoke with the restaurant Manager about this and he gave us an extra portion of chicken Biriyani which I just finished, It was made perfectly with all the above faults corrected(I hope he will be able to do the same with his mutton). Again the Moral is the 5 star rating I gave is for the Attitude of the staff and chef on trying to overcome their faults. NOT MANY CHEF I MET IN AUSTRALIA has that kind of attitude. Hats...
Read moreIf you're looking for a delicious Indian restaurant with amazing dishes and a great atmosphere, look no further than Banyan Tree. I recently had the pleasure of dining there and was thoroughly impressed by the food and service.
I started with the samosa chaat, which was a perfect blend of crispy samosas, tangy tamarind chutney, and cooling yogurt. The combination of flavors and textures was spot on, and I couldn't get enough of it.
For my main course, I ordered the Karahi paneer, a vegetarian dish made with succulent cubes of paneer cheese in a rich and flavorful tomato-based sauce. The paneer was perfectly cooked and the sauce was the perfect balance of spicy and savory. It was served with fluffy naan bread that was the perfect accompaniment to the dish.
The service at Banyan Tree was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure that I had everything I needed throughout my meal.
Special thanks to 'Alok' for managing the restaurant so well.
The restaurant itself was also beautifully decorated, with a warm and welcoming ambiance that made me feel right at home.
Overall, I highly recommend Banyan Tree to anyone looking for a delicious Indian...
