Look it's good but nothing really special. Service was perfectly fine, timely & polite. Food was perfectly fine but nothing that said "Wow! This is great!". The decor is comfortable, welcoming & cosy with some professional flair. So as a package it works for a nice casual yummy dinner that will be very enjoyable. But here's the problem. It isn't memorable. I just went here tonight (17/11/22) with my sister from interstate who chose it, and it was only when walking in the front door that I realised I'd dined in twice before. Now, some context. My previous job for 25yrs was as a chef, sometimes running big situations, sometimes not. I've previously been responsible for 15 million $ + PA food turnover. I remember EVERY time I've been to my local Mai Thai daggy decor but excellent food restaurant. I remember good food experiences. Biaggios in Essendon cooked a steak which is still in my top ten restaurant steaks. Yet my food tonight at Khao San Rd Thai I'm already starting to...

This is our favourite thai restaurant however we got disappointed with the service recently. We ordered spring roll chicken for my 3 year old son which we always do and my son didn’t want to eat them and he said it was hot. So I have complained to one of the staff as it tastes spicy, it never was so most likley they have added pepper to it more than the usual amount. Disappointed that they didn’t offer to replace it with vegetarian spring roll or anything else that is not spicy. They knew when i ordered that it was for my son as i had ordered the spring rolls in advance since my little one was hungry. They should be more attentive to this kind of stuff. My son didn’t touch or eat anything at all when we were there so I had to figure out what to feed him after dinner. No complaints on the quality of food however the...

My last minute plans for a party of 16 did not faze this restaurant, which is a local favourite of our family. They provided excellent service for our two tables, the food was excellent - so tasty, and excellent portions. They let me bring enough birthday cake for the whole group, (although we were so full from the entrees and mains we really struggled to make room for a small slice of cake.) They kindly provided beautiful small plates, forks, serving knife/server, as well as the ignition tool to light candles. I was not expecting this at all. So very helpful. They even played Happy Birthday music as we walked in with the cake, to top off, to the max, the whole embarrassing effect for my son. Awesome night. So glad we chose Khao San Road. There really is no other choice for us...

Chicken curry with the most authentic freshly grounded Thai spiced flavour, fried rice with perfect balance of crisp and sautéed veggies with birdseye chilli, fresh Tom Yum soup with whole mushrooms and tomatoes…. Can you imagine a better dinner? @khaosanroad_melbourne in Moonee ponds is deliciously great at authentic Thai food. If you’re in need of some great comfort food, especially on those cold wintery nights then Khao San Road is your new go-to. P.s the food was kept warm by little candle tea lights and for the Tom yum soup, there was lit charcoal which infused in the air as it burnt, honestly made the whole experience great

A monster of a meal which had us forking out ~$35pp. The quantity of food was small for the price. Look at the portable quantity of tom yum soup for that steep $14 price tag tho... The pad Thai was definitely attention grabbing and worth the price. As I am someone that typically doesn't go for Thai, I enjoyed my time here! My top picks would be the Tom Yum Soup (even though it's expensive - it tasted amazing), the pad Thai and the massman lamb curry. A cool quirky establishment allowed a lot of natural light. Everything was pretty good but it's up to you if you want to brave mt alexzander road 😆.
