Bayside Social — Restaurant in Melbourne

This place, is now sadly, the epitome of rudeness & ignorance. If you are lucky enough to be served by anyone, the food isn't too bad, nothing exceptional, but O.K. However, the staff actually, deliberately go to great lengths to avoid eye contact with you, as you are sitting there (for up to half an hour !) SO humiliating & RUDE. This wasn't a one off occurence either. Without exaggeration, the same, recurring pattern unfolded on no less than 4 consecutive visits & friends in the area say the same thing often happens to them. People now locally refer to it as Bayside UNsocial. I refuse to go back again now.. this morning was the last straw, for the 5th consecutive time. It's a shame, as the locale is quite pleasant, but.. my advice is to head up the beach road a few hundred metres to Bella Cosi. Marissa & her sons make you feel SO welcome on arrival, everytime. The food is substantially better quality & you always get served. The view is better & parking is also easier... no brainer. Sorry, Bayside UNsocial.. Food looks nothing like the photos. I was there on Monday 07/11/22 The food I ordered was below average. Asked for Hollandaise sauce. The chef who wasn’t a chef in fact whipped two raw egg yolks with some white vinegar and poured this over my food. I spoke to the owner and manger of the cafe who claim they took it over a week ago. They said the would look after me for the mistake. The owner said he would remove the stuff up breakfast which was $26.50. I am all for paying for a decent meal when you are getting quality. This was just really sad. If I could have seen a meal being served to someone before I ordered I might have moved away. The latte was good I will say that.

I was then slugged with a $39.80 bill for two sides of bacon at $6.50 per side which I did order and was happy to pay for. A mug of latte that must have been $12.50 and a dry ginger ale which would stand to be $14.50. I have felt unwell, and the excuse I was given I feel is poor. Your other manger who said she doesn’t know what holandaise sauce is because she is a vegan. Future reference that won’t sit well with...

Terribly disappointing service is a 0/10. I can’t comment on the quality of the food as I waited 1hour and 20 minutes and we did not receive our brunch, that we had ordered after being told it was on its way multiple times. We were seated there at 11.30am on a Sunday morning and it was terribly disorganised, busy and not personal at all. Despite me chasing down the wait staff to ask where our drinks were 3 times, it took 40 minutes to receive our drinks which were canned beers. No real apologies or explanation, don’t bother with this place there’s plenty of cute...
