Bean Seen Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have frequented this café for last 9 years visits a few times a month to infrequent and have seen many changes in this establishment in that time.

I sat down and waited and waited no one appeared to be interested in taking my order, in fact another woman was seated was immediately attended to and I was still left in the air until I went to the counter to ask if I could be served.

A triple latte and eggs Beni with bacon thanks…ok; they had a few customers(5), but it took 9 mins to get my coffee. The meal arrived and was not as I ordered, I decided to eat as I did not have more time to waste, I ate the eggs and left rest, as I did after I sip of the coffee. ewwwww

I went to the pay station; and explained I was not paying for the coffee as it was undrinkable ie without looking at the machine I believe

• Tamps incorrect • Extraction to long • Milk to hot • Perhaps machine required a clean

Why do people walk up to an expresso machine and think they can make coffee!!! – recommendation here - visit Habitual or mare in Healesville, perhaps do barista training with the girls. When you can make a good coffee you will be proud of yourself, and be happy you have supplied your customer with a great drink;

I then mentioned the meal was incorrect but I am comfortable paying as I ate part -

NEXT thing… I have 3 server women clustered around with all sort of excuses and blaming me for the coffee as I ordered a triple – so what the? and then the short order cook arrives and blurts his objections without any preamble of clarification on the issue.

• did I make a scene ; NO • did I raise my voice; NO • did I refuse to pay; NO • was I rude; NO • was I abusive; NO • did I try to explain; YES • did I explain the issue with the coffee; YES • did anyone listen; NO • did I complain about the Beni out of a bottle; NO

the short order cook walks away and says I shouldn’t take it on the girls…..what was this then? I am trying to explain their problem and then it becomes about me….I see its all my fault

I was not served Service was very slow Coffee not drinkable Food order was not what I received

Oh yes…it’s all about me….sorry!

Ok how it should have gone; sorry about that; it was our mistake completely, I made a mistake with the order, don’t worry about the coffee. How about you come back and next time have one on us. Then i say OK all good, thanks and pay for my meal then leave?

Lovely local cafe with huge portion sizes.

We had the Smashed Avo, Loaded Croissant and Bacon and Egg Turkish. Food was hot, quick and delicious. My only comment is that it says on the menu the Smashed Avo comes with lime but mine had lemon instead. Came back here again today (19/10/2024) and the staff who served us was extremely rude.

Asked for a table and was told the four of us could only sit at the small table but the couple who came after us could have a large table (there were other smaller tables available at the time). We ordered more than $90 worth of food and drinks and the couple only had coffee. How is this fair?

Told the waitress to wipe down the table which clearly still had avocado on it and she threw the menu on the table.

When the food arrived, we asked for an extra plate and was told to use the saucer.

Waitress was rude, had an attitude and needs further training. Management, if you would like to know who the staff member was, please contact me and I'm very happy to provide...

Very disappointed the staff members attitude and rudeness, I have been here once before and really enjoyed my meal so thought I’d drop in for a quick meal.

Noticed a staff memeber being very rude to the lady in front of me who has just asked for a kids high chair and walked out to let the daughter know they had a high chair, when she returned the staff memeber was very confronting and said “yeah I was just cleaning it for you when you walked out”.

I was at the counter and was browsing through the menu when the staff member went on to tell me to take a seat and she would get to me if I was dining in, same staff memeber when I was trying to tell to take my order didn’t want to take my order said she will get my drink first and then come back to me and all this with not a note of pleasantness in her tone, was a very disappointing experience of cheap attitude and service getting in the way of an otherwise great place.
