Bonsai Bali is one of those amazing rare finds of the Hills. Tucked away in a little corner of Tacoma (Dandenong Ranges) it's unassuming exterior hides a beautifully decorated interior with a lovely green panoramic view of the forest that backs onto the restaurant. The staff are all incredibly friendly especially the chief waiter DD, who is always going above and beyond to bring us fine dining experience at a fraction of the cost.
The menu is good, but it is the off the menu items that are really incredible. If you are looking for a cheap eat, the menu is perfectly fine. But if you are looking for something to really impress your dinner guest, you must speak to DD about a specially personalised catered menu for your experience.
In summery, physical location scores a 8 out of 10, wait staff and kitchen crew scores 10 out of 10 and the food 10 out of 10.

The seafood main didn’t contain any seafood just some pieces of white fish, most of the plate was cauliflower. The beef main was chewy and the sauce was too sweet: again, a lot of cauliflower but plenty of beef. The chicken curry was bland and the chicken pieces were huge and every single one had the skin on it making it very chewy and unpleasant. Special rice and nasi goreng were fine.
Service was good but our bottles of beer didn’t come with glasses, they just gave us...

We had ordered the roast goose in advance and really enjoyed it. The skin was crispy, and the meat was succulent and well-seasoned.
As for the lamb in claypot, it was prepared in the right way with an authentic flavor, unlike some other places where the dish is drowned in sauce.
The claypot rice, with sausage and cured pork, elevated the rice to another level.
The chicken soup was amazing, bursting with flavour, and the chicken was cooked to perfection.
The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be...
