without a doubt, Brice Avenue has some of the best fish and chips, fair prices and their share of friendly stuff. I truly wish I could give this store a better review, however, there has been somethings that has come to my attention that is bugging me beyond insanity.
Brice Avenue charges a 1.5% surcharge.
For people who are unaware of what this is, a surcharge is an extra fee, charge, or tax that is added on top of the original price when paying via electronic payment.
Now don't get me wrong, under different circumstances this wouldn't bother me. An extra couple of cents to a dollar? who cares!
Sadly that's not the case. On the 25th of February, 2016, the competition and consumer amendment act was introduced, and from September 1st of 2017, it was put in place. This means that businesses are banned from charging excessive payment surcharges on credit, debit and prepaid cards.
Yes, while there are certain scenarios where surcharge is allowed to be applied, it is only under strict rules, which I will not go into depth about, less i want to sit here all night. I will, however, mention a couple of the types of costs that can be covered...
-- cross-border transaction fees. --insurance against forwards-delivery risk. --rental or maintenance fees for your card terminal.
These are just three instances and in all cases you must be able to prove that the costs are associated with certain payment types.
Penalties for the misuse of surcharge can be anywhere from a litter over $2,500 to over $1,000,000
I am honestly surprised that no one has taken Brice Avenue up with the ACCC, but quite honestly, I believe that if they keep the percentage of surcharge, its just a...
Read moreA totally dreadful place with disgusting customer service. I rang and had to repeat my order 3 times to ensure the young girl had it right. She even repeated it back to me twice (first time wrong she completely failed on a souvlaki order which was simply “no onion, no salad we just want a chicken souvlaki and garlic sauce). What we got was a souvlaki with onions tomato and salad with no garlic sauce!!
When I rang to point out the mistake, they thought the best course of action was to argue with me, and then accuse me of getting the order wrong and lying to them.
It’s the second time they’ve gotten a simple order wrong and their food Is simply not worth going back for. You are a disgrace to the hospitality service and the people you employ should learn to get a simple order right!!!!
Save yourself the angst and problems, there are far better fish and chip shops all around...
Read moreI have not been here for many years but had a craving for some fish and chips so visited this place on my electric bike on the 11/07/2024. The staff was really nice and I was surprised at the very reasonable prices. You can buy a lot here for only $20. Anyway once I got home I couldn't believe how good the food was. This was the thickest and juiciest flake I've ever had and I've been eating fish and chips for 40 years. I'm going to become a regular customer. I used to go to Mooroolbark Fish and Chips but I'm going to go here from now on. The decor may not be as nice but the food is so much better. They have great food at very cheap prices. If you like fish and chips you...
