My normal Indian restaurant was closed so I thought I would try Flavor Of India as I like to support local traders. I walked into an empty restaurant but there were some take out orders on the bench. I was ordering for two of us and saw some family packs on offer. The family pack for two only has two main options, butter chicken and a daal. I looked at the pack for four people and that had more of a variety so went to order that (have enough for lunch tomorrow!), asked to alter the daal for just mixed veges. Noted that the price for the dish was the same and the girl serving said yes, but an extra $5. I asked why as it’s just a swap and she just said ‘extra $5’. So instead, I just ordered for tonight’s dinner, so all up they lost $20 for the poor service. And then it came to the food. The butter chicken had good flavor but was dry. The lamb Rogan josh was tender but mostly sauce with seven pieces of lamb in the dish. The coconut rice was bright orange and too sweet, the entrees had food colouring in them -bright green pakoras and bright yellow onion Bahama and were very average. The pappadums were stale as was the naan. All up, indifferent service, empty restaurant and average food. First and only time I will be...
Read moreDecided to order takeaway from here last night. Well...since the last time I ordered (a few months ago), the price increase is excessive. Looking at the old menu that I ordered from and now comparing to the new price menu, on average, there was a $2.00 increase on all items. Adds up very quickly when ordering 2 x entrees, 3 x mains, 2 x large rice & 2 naan bread. We used to get 10% take away discount. No discount of 10% applied. Now have to show this stupid "10% business card" to get it applied. $98.50 for take away for 3 people is unexceptionable. Previous total ordering before the same items was $68-75. To make matters worst, our lamb dish, the meat was hot on the outside and cold in the middle - hence telling us it was a frozen meal reheated & not freshly prepared. Garlic Naan did not appear fresh either & cold. Has lost our business as a local & will not be...
