My partner and I came to Manna Lane for breakfast as weāre locals. The atmosphere and decor of this little shop was gorgeous and I loved the variety of options on their menu. However, the staff seemed a bit slow to serve and take our order. It was a sunny day and we were one of the few customers seated indoors so I understand how we were overlooked.
Now the food. I have never had raw black rice pudding and never wished to but I couldnāt eat it. I just couldnāt, and I wish Iād asked for a replacement.
My boyfriendās pancakes were underwhelming but tasty and over-all I was a bit sad to pay so much for food that was bad - average quality.
None-the-less Iād love to try this cafe again just to make sure Iāve given it a fair go.
Update: [four stars] Visited again and ordered the vegan mushroom sandwich (Iām not vegan but thought it sounded nice).
The food was absolutely incredible this time around as well as piping hot. Plus the staff were considerate enough to let me know beforehand that the dish is spicy.
The coffee was okay but the soy milk a little burnt (I prefer full cream but lactose hates my stomach).
Overall Iām looking forward to my...

Service was good - such kind and accommodating staff. My friend had questions about the dish which were answered after the waitress kindly checked the kitchen.
Food wise - The smashed avo + poached egg was delicious and fresh. It was very filling! Coffee was also yummy - had an oat latte. They had heaps on their menu and sorted them from peckish to starving. Very creative. They also had little pastries by their window which looked fresh, and there were some āpay it forwardā and āfree coffeeā sticky notes on the window - Iām guessing if you wanted to, you could take the sticky note and claim a coffee, or contribute to a sticky note yourself! Found it very cute.
For everything I paid about 28 total. Not too bad Iād say for a breaky and a coffee. I recommend dropping by if youāre...

I had a Matcha Latte, the Chicken Burger and a slice of Basque Cheesecake.
The latte tasted like grass, but given it's my first time trying a Matcha Latte, maybe that's what it's supposed to taste like so I won't hold it against them.
The chicken burger was great - crisp, juicy, with a delightful slaw. On a return and a repeat, the wedges were much better, so I'm happy to assume last time was just an off moment.
And Basque Cheesecake is Basque Cheesecake. Smooth, creamy... really, I've never had a cheesecake I didn't like.
Overall, a tasty meal in a nice location - it feels a bit pricey for what I got, but such is the way of inflation I...
