Brunetti Classico Moonee Ponds — Restaurant in Melbourne

I recently discovered the Brunetti location at Moonee Ponds thanks to my in-law, who pointed out this gem aside from the well-known spots on Lygon St and Flinders Ln. The store is beautifully decorated, with shelves brimming with attractive pastries and cakes. With Christmas around the corner, the festive decor and holiday-themed merchandise added a delightful touch.

The store is clean and welcoming, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining in. You seat yourself here, move or merge the table yourself, which we didn't mind. You can approach the counter to order, or use the convenient mobile app or scan the QR code for table service—since there’s no waiter in person ordering service, so we opted for the QR code.

However, a downside we encountered was the unexpected surcharges when paying via the QR code. These junk fees only came to our attention when we got home and viewed the invoice through the email link, which didn’t work at the time of payment and didn’t include an invoice attachment. There were additional fees that weren't clearly stated on the site, which felt a bit misleading. If we had known, we would have preferred to pay over the counter to avoid these extra charges. While the fees were not substantial ($4.01 out of $31.0 beverage order - simple math and that's more than 10%) the lack of transparency was disappointing. It's not a deal-breaker, but it does feel a bit deceptive and unnecessary.

Despite this hiccup, we had a great time. The coffee was excellent, and the attractive cake displays tempted us throughout our visit. The atmosphere was perfect for hanging out or spending quality time...

The oat milk cappuccino and hot chocolate I ordered were nothing short of superb, impressing me with their rich flavors and impeccable presentation. Been here a few times since they have opened , excited to have a touch of Lygon st here in Moonee ponds but unfortunately that’s where the similarities end , on a positive the breakfast & coffee is very good But the service lacks as the staff are not properly trained which causes a lot of confusion at the register when ordering , it’s not the young staff’s fault it’s more a management issue , when it comes to the ambiance and comfort level of the store unfortunately lacks in that department also , the tables thru the middle corridor makes it hard to manoeuvre thru having to ask people to move a little so you can get past , also and probably the worst thing that absolutely kills the mood is the wooden chairs that screech and make an ear piercing sound that goes right thru you and very annoying , the fit out lacks in character due it’s very plain decor , in the end this review is my opinion and not designed to degrade this store , I hope this can help to bring positive changes to this iconic store as I hope it will be here for many years to come …....
