Hunky Dory Fish & Chips Moonee Ponds — Restaurant in Melbourne

It's Sunday evening, 30th of June 5pm, I just finish my long shift work at Victoria Market. I admitted I was not well presented because the nature of working in market with meat, I put Ion everything functional as well as clean, just some trainings with long puffer jacket. I plan to do groceries at Woolies and before so, grab fish and chips for tea. I stand at the door for quite sometime and servers pass in and out, nobody care to ask or smile at me. That's okay. I get in to the restaurant and see beautiful presentation of the food, still none of the servers care come. Still reading the menu,unsure to sit down or to order first, I see a lady at cashier, smiled at her. She walk toward me but turns out picking up dirty dishes. One man came in with nice shirt is welcomed with big smile and ushered to sit. Another lady came in, greeted the staff behind the bench and being served. So here I am waiting behind the man with nice shirt to make an order, because it's my pay day and I plan to eat fish and chips here.

Turns out you need to dress well in the restaurant or else you are beggar or homeless that is deserve to be ignore :)

This hunky dory would have to be the worst in Melbourne. I ordered a grilled blue grenadier, brown rice and Greek salad. The fish was paper thin and you couldn’t even cut it with a knife as it kept breaking apart. You could get much better quality fish from your local fish and chip shop. The brown rice was tasteless and not seasoned. The Greek salad was essentially half a plate of lettuce, two tiny pieces of tomato and a few cucumbers. There was no dressing on the salad and it was horrible. I had to order marinated calamari since the fish was so small and paper thin to fill me up. It was overcooked, rubbery and tasteless. Also asked for dressing for the salad (was told it was $2.50 for extra dressing). I said there wasn’t any on it to begin with and they gave it to me. Also asked for more tomatoes and feta. The feta was all crumbly and tasted awful. I’ve never had feta that bad in my life. I often go to South Melbourne, Bentleigh and Oakleigh hunky dory stores and the same meal is amazing, filling and I can generally never fault it. So people I went here for late family lunch with my hubby and kids today the service was great by marie Grace lovely girl she took care of all our needs but the food not so much , not that a lot of things were wrong with the foods it was a few things and chips is one of them it's was just to crunchy and hard for my liking and my kids and also I ordered the panko fish burger for myself and I was not pleased with it as it was to hot and I could not even eat it and on top of that I found a piece of hair on my burger 😝🤮 but thanks God when I showed it to the waitress Marie grace she apologised and she took it away and asked me if I wanted the same thing or something else and I told her something else and she got me the option I wanted which was the Brumandi with salad and rice.
